Quite a few hospitals/health trusts are going along this route for fear of getting sued if they get it wrong.

Good luck for your DD Jeanette , my sister didn't want to know with her first and they don't with their second which is expecting. My sister and BIL had a boys name sorted early on in the pregnancy but fortunately come up with a girls name a few days before my niece was born.

I was desperate to know but the policy in Sheffield was not to tell

I had a lot of scans, as a result of high blood pressure, so a midwife - at around 38 weeks - took pity on me and said she was fairly confident DD was a girl
