At Saratoga!

I have a last minute summer trip lined up for Saratoga Springs and I'm actually looking forward to the Downtown Disney area. Even online it just looks like such a pretty resort. Can't wait to walk around the grounds in the mornings, check out the pools!

Now at first I was pretty concerned with all the reviews I see listed on these boards. Yes, it has open hallways (Doesn't bother me). Yes, Its looks Large. Okay..so it does look like an apartment complex. But - Hey It looks like a nice one at least!

I think if I really end up enjoying SSR I think I may have to find myself another new DVC contract With pricing in the 50's I might just need to pickup an extra 100 points.

I just felt like posting because it seems like of people(including myself) have posted/wondered about all the negative reviews that they see. It did get me down about staying there at first. Just try to find the positives and enjoy yourself. Don't go in feeling down and worrying about what others have said about the resort.

We, too, just got a last minute ressie for Saratoga!! Arriving Thursday.....leaving Monday!! At first I wanted my dear ole Old Key West, but we are excited to try SSR!!! Just wish we still had access to the locker rooms at the health club!!!

That was disappointing when that changed. But there is still a nice restroom with showers and changing area that you can use.

Last August, we booked a stay at SSR for a weekend and we loved it. We booked about 2 weeks out before we went. It was a much needed get away for us. We enjoyed eating at the Turf Club and we liked Artists Palette too!

PS. We did exactly what you are suggesting, that is, we bought a 100 point resale at SSR. Love having those extra points.

Very disappointing for sure!! I loved those showers, the sauna, whirlpool and amnenties when showering!!! The smells from the spa area are so soothing!!!

Each resort has a different feel to it and depending on personal preferences, some resorts seem to be more popular than others. We don't own at SSR but we seem to find ourselves staying here due to booking some of our trips only a few months out.

We enjoy the resort and since it is almost always available, we don't see any reason to buy points here.

Have a wonderful trip! Saratoga is a great resort. People will always have opinions, however I had a positive experience and would stay there again. The benefit of DVC is you can always love your home resort, but get to stay lots of other great places. Enjoy.

My recent last minute trip to SSR was delightful. The CMs there are equaled only by those at HHI, IMHO. The grounds are gorgeous and strolling those paths in the morning is heavenly. Enjoy your stay!

Negative reviews of SSR are like Big Foot; referred to often, and a big part of the DVC culture, but an actual one has never been found.

We stayed there once in 2009 on developer points. It was nice, but I didn't see the real "advantage" of being there.

HOWEVER...that all changed when DH and I took a 3 day trip last month and since it was last minute, SSR was all that was available. We LOVED it!!! Spent quite a bit of time at the restaurants/shops in DTD and West Side. We had a chance to admire just how BEAUTIFUL that resort is. The grounds are gorgeous and the walkway between SSR and DTD is quick and also very scenic!

We were sold and will gladly stay there next time, especially when it will just be the two of us.

SSR is a beautiful resort. We have stayed there recently and we enjoyed everything there, especially the walks through the grounds. We will be at OKW on Sunday - Tuesday for our 2nd time and can't wait to see what the remods look like.

ive been twice now. once this past april for 3 days and we all really enjoyed it. We stayed in congress park and had a lovely view of DTD. the last time was in june when i didn't want my vacation to end and it was all that was left. My BFF fell in love with it. I think she would like to go back there for all our girl trips now. We stayed in the paddocks section with the best view ever.

Looks like you're following in our footsteps. Our first resort was at BWV and I did a small add on at SSR for an "every other year" option. Several add ons later we actually own a few more SSR points than BWV points. We love both of our home resorts precisely because they are so different from each other!
