I'm so sorry
Cancer just sucks. I would wait to cancel. Check into when is the latest you can cancel/change flights/ect.
If he does pass before your scheduled trip it might be nice to get away and distract everyone.
If he doesn't pass before the trip he might *want* you guys to do something fun for your family.
Cancer is so different for each individual. My husband's aunt was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in early June (didn't even suspect it until Memorial day weekend) and given 2 months. It was already in her liver, kidneys, bones/spine, stomach, lungs and of course reproductive organs. Between Easter and Memorial day she lost TONS of weight (she looked perfectly fine at Easter), and June/July/August she looked skeletal. She actually gained weight in September...yes here we are 4 months later and she is still here and doing pretty well considering. She is still considered terminal and we know her time is short but we are enjoying and thankful for the extra time...but I know if someone had planned a family vacation she would want us to still go (and actually one of our close family members is on vacation right now). The chances that he will pass within days or during your trip are pretty slim considering. This is just one thing that can be so different depending on the family though.
