I'm about ready to book Spirit

My BF and her family flew Spirit to Orlando RT from DFW in June. They got their tickets for $24 each way in June. WOW!! They had no problems at all.

We are leaving this week from DFW flying into Tampa. Like you, I was a little nervous with all the complaints I have read on reviews. But at the same time, I felt like I just couldn't beat $48 each way.

Hope this helps...Good luck!

We just returned from our 4 day weekend trip via Spirit Airlines. Just thought I would let you know about our experience. The flight down started out interesting because a man who was sitting by the emergency exit refused to read the instruction guide when he was asked to do so by the flight attendant. They argued back and forth a bit, then another flight attendant tried to talk to him. They finally ended up moving him to another seat. I was actually hoping they would get him off the plane. I was scared he might be more trouble once we were in the air. The captain came out and talked to him before we took off. I think he told the guy he better not have anymore problems from him on his plane.

The actual flight (take off and landing) was smooth. I am 5'9", so the seating was a bit cramped. As someone else said, the seats are well-worn and iffy on whether or not they will recline.

The only problem we had with Spirit...they did not get our luggage on the plane. There was 23 people (including us) who did not get their luggage. After an hour and a half of research by the one and only Spirit employee at baggage claim, we were told that our luggage was still in Dallas. They said that a conveyor belt broke and that all of our luggage missed the plane. They told us it could be 2-5 days before we would get our luggage. :sad2: We arrived to Tampa on Wed morning. Since we only had our toiletries and meds with us and we could not get anyone to return our phone calls, we ended up having to go buy clothes on Thursday afternoon before we went to MNSSHP. Our luggage arrived on Friday morning, the day before we left to come back home. So, on Friday we had to go return the clothes to the store that we did not need for Friday and Saturday. We are hoping they will pay us back for the clothes we had to buy. They should refund us the money we paid for the luggage and for our time they wasted. We calculated about 5 hours of our time was used up by this fiasco. We had a 2 hour delay at the airport upon arrival, 2 hours of buying clothes for our entire family, and then another hour to return the clothes we did not need.

Even though we know this could have happened with any airlines, we will not fly Spirit again. Their customer service was pathetic. We could not get anyone to return our calls and their was no updates or communication.

I hope you have a much better experience.

That's crazy, you were from Dallas not South America. They could have trucked it from Dallas faster. They could have overnighted it on UPS or Fed Ex. This would not have likely happened with other airlines. Most airlines have agreements to send passengers or luggage on another airline's plane. Plus they have more flights going back and forth, looks like Spirit only has 1 per day and not everyday.
