Jeeze, I can't believe this! My DD (4), has been sick with a bad cough and cold since Monday morning. She gets a croupy cough every year and every time I take her to the doctor they say...it's viral, not in her lungs, treat her with bed rest, fluids, and time. This time, I wait to take her to the doctor till today, figuring its just like all the other times. Only reason I called the doctor, was because she complained that her ears hurt. Well, not only does she have a double ear infection, but the cold is in her lungs this time, so she has pneumonia! I guess its just not safe to assume things with kids and thier health. DD & DH are still at the doctors waiting for blood test results, I guess maybe to see if its viral or bacterial. My poor baby :( .

Kathy,

We've all done it. We will all do it again. Please don't beat yourself up. She's seen the Dr. the meds should kick in soon for her ear infection, and she will be back to her old self in no time!

I can trade horror stories like this if you want to. I like to call them my 'Mother of the Year' stories.

This is harder on you than her.

Good Luck

Debbie

PS--YOU ARE NOT A TERRIBLE MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D

You're not a terrible mom. {{hugs}} We've all done something we assumed was right when it turned out we should've done something else. I thought my ds sprung his wrist a couple of months ago. I didn't rush him to the dr immediately. My SO took him a couple of days later. I felt horrible when I found out he had broken his wrist.:( But, he forgave me and he's fine now.:)

Your dd will be fine as well.:)

You are a great mom! We've all been in this kind of situation. My DD whined through a relative's Christmas party a few years ago. She kept saying she was tired, and didn't feel good. I just thought she was bored and wanted to leave. I kept telling her to stop whining. Next day, she had a terrible fever and was really sick. Took her to the doc - pneumonia. Same kind of situation as yours. I felt like Joan Crawford - Mommie Dearest.

GET THOSE WIRE HANGERS OUT OF HERE!!!!! ;)

{{{Hugs}}} Try not to feel bad. I had horrible ear infections when I was little, but I was always just as surprised as everyone else when the doctor said I had a double ear infection. I couldn't even tell the difference between having a regular cold and being really sick, and I'm sure your DD couldn't either.

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie. You're not a terrible mom. You took your daughter to the doctor and she is being treated. That makes you a good mom.

(((hugs)))

It never fails, I take the kids to the doc theyre fine and the doctor looks at me like " Why are you wasting my time?" I keep my kids home and finally take them in and get the ' WHY did you wait so long???" lecture

You cant win as a parent trust me. I hope your baby is feeling better really soon! her medicine should kick in quickly and she will be feeling better in no time! :)

You are NOT a terrible parent :)

Don't worry, I had something like that happen a few winters ago. Our oldest (DD) was in the hospital from surgery and had complications. (spent a long time in from them) Well our youngest who is hardly ever sick, healthy as a horse, had a bit of a cough during that time. Nothing major, but a little persistent one. We didn't think much of it at the time, and just gave him cough medicine since most of our attention was focused on our daughter. However, we finally got him in to see the doctor, and found out that HE had bronchitis. Boy, did I feel like a Grade A mom!:(
I think we've all had moments like that, so don't feel too bad. These kids can sure fool you!

I was in Disney during the month of June/July last summer when my DS (6) got a cold. My DH and I were thinking, oh well, his allergies/asthma is acting up again and we continued on with our 12 day trip. When we got home and he was no better, I took him to the hospital because he was having chills and a really high fever. He had pneumonia. I felt bad too, but I realized that we aren't certified doctors and nurses. We as parents sometimes miss thing. Just thank God that it wasn't worse and pray that everything gets better. :D Being a mom is hard enough without us putting more pressure on ourselves!

{{{hugs}}} You are NOT a terrible mom. I have been in the same situation with my 4 boys.
