I'm a little scared about CRT dinner..

Thanks for posting this information. DW and I will be celebrating our 11th anniversary there for dinner on 11/30 (it is a surprise to her). I thought it would be great to take my princess to the castle for her dinner, even though it might be thought of as being "for the kids".

That trip was our very first trip to WDW and we didn't even know it was possible to eat in the Castle until we bought a guide book that mentioned it. As soon as we heard you could eat there, we looked at each other and just knew we had to do it. We dressed up and everything. It was beyond anything I imagined and DH and I still talk about it . . . so much so that our kids both said they wanted to eat there on their trips.

The accoustics in there can get really loud (as we found out during breakfast in March :scared:) and although there were quite a few kids there for dinner, it was very quiet in there and we felt like we were in a very nice restaurant. We really don't remember anything about the other people dining there too except for a couple who was on their honeymoon whom we had seen all over the parks and in several of the same restaurants while we were there.

To me, the breakfast seemed more "for kids" than dinner and there are a lot of adult groups that go there for dinner, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. I really hope you and your princess enjoy it as much as we did.

Thanks! I am sure we will love it. You just confirmed something else for me. I was going to encourage her to dress up, but still not tell her where we were going. May even have her wear a tiara she bought for a DCL cruise a couple of years ago.;)

To anyone who worries about reviews they have read on the DIS...don't judge it until you try it for yourself!!! Every family is different, what one loves another may hate, and vice versa.

FWIW, I read awful things about Brown Derby, it ended up being my favorite meal of the trip!

I heard great things about 1900 Park Fare dinner, we all hated it! Food was terrible.

So take everything you read with a grain of salt and just go! Enjoy! Even if you don't care for the meal, the magic in your little girl's eyes will make it an amazing experience for you!

We really dressed up! DH was in a suit and I bought a new dress just for dinner at the Castle. When we got there, we had a few minutes before our reservation so we checked out the shop in the Castle (where BBB is now) and DH bought me a tiara to wear at dinner. I loved it! . . . what princess wouldn't :lmao:.

I hope you and your DW have a great time!

I have had dinner there twice. Both times I had the salad. Once for my entree I had the lamb chops and they were good, but my Dh was still hungry (we both had them) the second time I ate there I had the pork chop and it was really good.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the Prime Rib...just get something else. If you do order it don't expect anything that would even be considered ordinary. I've had better prime rib off of the buffet and the local Chinese buffet.

The experience is a neat one though and everyone ought to do it (and enjoy it) once.

See ...this is the very thing that has OP upset...

I LOVE the Prime Rib at CRT..and have gotten it for the last times I've been there... '08, '06, '04, '02, '00...so if you don't like it...that may be the case...but I don't.....

Have a magical visit...

Mary

I thought the food was just OK. Your four year old will love it because it is in the castle.

Even though we thought the food was ok, we booked a ressie for our next trip...got to eat in the castle!!!:worship:

This is true.

Honestly- don't really remeber the food much at all (must have been ok). The experience of watching my 4 year old meet the princesses over -shadowed everything. She will love it! We were there for lunch last summer.

I'll second the pork chops as really good! Not a dish you here much about on the boards.

We were just there in Sept. and we had a great time. Eating in the castle was really neat. I had a salad, prime rib, and buckle for dessert and my meal was great. The prime rib was ok, but the rest of the meal (and everyone else's entree) was better. Like a pp said it's not 5 star quality food, but it's certainly not something to be scared of. My kids, especially the 1 1/2 yo, loved the show/characters.

I am glad we ate in the castle once, but I don't know if I would do it again because of the 2TS credits.
