We just picked up our three foster "kids" on Saturday and they're settling in nicely. OK, there not exactly human. They're 10 week old bunnies! They were rescued along with an entire colony of domestic bunnies that were living in a field near our house. The whole colony of 80 will be checked by vets, spayed/neutered, socialized and adopted to good indoor homes by the rescue organizations that are involved.
Our job is to socialize our foster bunnies by giving them lots of love. We keep telling ourselves that we're not keeping them, even though they're adorable and we love them already. We're getting them ready to be good pets for their new homes. They're a little skittish because they haven't spent much time around people. But you can pick them up and hold them and they're very sweet. It's kind of weird to hold the little bunnies and then pick up our two adult bunnies. They seem massive! But, what could be better than an armload (and a house full) of bunnies?!
