...watch this from?

anyone know of a good view in an 'elevated position'. DH will want to film so needs to be unobstructed. :confused3

Please tell me there is somewhere that meets DH's requirements :worship:

TIA

The steps at the restaurant in Japan, I suppse.
The bridge between UK and France is good.

But there is really no need to, seek an "elevated" position.

I have my own 6-camera location video recording of IllumiNations and not one of the positions is elevated.

There are so many places to view IllumiNations at Epcot's World Showcase
that are wonderful in their own way that its futile to try to list them, so I will. ;)

• Bridge between UK and France
• Near the twin gift shops at the entrance to WS from FW
• Norway area
• Upper level (outside front terrace) of the Matsu No Ma Lounge in Japan
• Italy, near the Gondolas
• Mexico, at the outdoor Cantina
• Mexico, bridge to the right of oudoor Cantina (as you face the lagoon.)
• UK, the Rose & Crown outdoor dining area (ressies required.)
• UK, just to the left of the Rose & Crown (as you face the lagoon.)
• Many, many more great spots.

Be sure to avoid any tree branches that block your overhead view,
and watch out for any "islands" in the water
that block your view of the "center" of the lagoon.

Best Tip:
Don't stand down-wind of the fireworks.
Their SMOKE will ruin the show.

So, If the wind is blowing into your face as you look towards the Lagoon, you are in the wrong spot.

Thanks for the detailed answer - really appreciate it - and the map is great too.

thanks again.

:thumbsup2

One other really good suggestion is to stand on the opposite side of the wind. Firework smoke makes for a much less enjoyable viewing.

edit: Missed that Robo suggested this..sorry about that!

We watched them 7 times last month from 6 different countries (LOVE Illuminations!)

Our favorite spots were...
Morocco - go down behind the water wheel right up against the wall. I taped it one night from there and was able to steady my camera on the wall. Plus no one can squeeze in front of you. Only issue with filming from there is that you're actually almost too close and the higher blasts will zoom up out of range if the camera is stationary.

Japan - actually step back from the crowds towards the pavilion. The ground slopes up slightly... just enough so that you can clearly see over the heads of everyone in front of you (might be a problem seeing the low stuff if you're very short)

Mexico - to the left of the CS, just about directly across from the fiesta marguerita stand. We got there early and sat up against the railing until show time.

Robo is right on about the wind. Made that mistake once a couple of years ago. :sad2: Definitely check where the wind is coming from before you pick a spot.

Enjoy!!pixiedust:

I love sitting by Mexico in front of the marg stand, its just a nice time to chill drink a marg! I usually start sitting about an 1 hr or so before the show, so i can get front row, right next to the railing... then im totally unobstructed.

I agree with the bridge between UK and France, especially if you parked your car at Boardwalk or are staying at one of those resorts as you can make a fast getaway from that location. Otherwise, budget another hour home if you try to leave from the world showcase after the fireworks!

Another good spot is right under the red thing in Japan - sorry, I can't remember what it's called. There are benches there and if you are just to the right of it you can use the rail to steady your camera (just make sure to still hang onto it :) ).
