Illuminations Fireworks from monorail?

If we were on the monorail leaving Epcot at around the time Illuminations was starting, would we be able to see the fireworks? My dd is a little scared of the noise of fireworks, and I'm not sure she will have the stamina to watch a 9 PM fireworks show and then fight the crowds back to the monorail, given that we will have been up by about 6:30-7 AM to eat with Pooh and friends at 8:05 AM. (We will go back to our hotel in the afternoon and try to take a nice long nap, but who knows what will happen with that.)

We have a 6:30 PM reservation that night at Restaurant Akershus to meet the princesses and will probably want to stroll around Epcot a little after dinner, so we might be in the park until 8:30 or 9ish anyway....

Anyone have any experience with this?

You probably won't be able to really see any of it from the monorail. It pretty much heads straight out away from Epcot, so the fireworks would be behind you. You might just want to play it by ear, depending on how she is doing by that time of day. Also, the fireworks are pretty loud, because they are right there on World Showcase lagoon. The last time we were there, my DW had to take my DD into one of the buildings during the show, because she is really afraid of fireworks. All that being said, it is a great show, probably my favorite at WDW. So maybe just judge it based on how she is doing.

1st, IllumiNations will be at 9:30pm from now until NYE.
2nd, IllumiNations is a long show 12+/- minutes plus the Holiday Addition. If you were on the monorail, you whold see just a small part of the show.

Yes, you can see it. We left Epcot early to avoid the crush of people leaving. We were amazed how much of Illuminations we were able to see.

You might try going to the Monorail loading dock and watching from there. Not sure how much you could see or if you would be able to hear the music, but seeing as how the loading dock is elevated you should be able to see most of the fireworks and be far enough away from the noise. I know that there are benches there that you could sit on and wait until the show is over and then be one of the first on the monorail back to the TTC.
