WOndering about the illuminations cruise I've heard folks mention. How much, how many folks, and do DVC folks get any discount? How long does it last? Any limitation on ages of those that can ride?

Do they have a special one for anniversaries? We always celebrate our anniversary while at WDW -- this could be a really neat surprise for my dh...

Hi Cindy,
We just got back from an Illuminations Birthday Cruise last Monday and it was WONDERFUL!!! We celebrated my nephews 12th birthday and they decorated the boat with balloons, a banner, a personalized birthday cake (which was AWESOME), snacks and drinks. This cruise was $220 because of all of the "stuff" but I know the exact cruise without the 'stuff" is slightly less expensive. (I'm sure you could call and ask if there is a cake available for an anniversary, all they would have to do is change the wording!!! ) There is no discount available for DVC, but I don't think there is a discount for anyone. We left the dock around 8:15pm and cruise around until about 8:50 then went under the bridge and docked and watched Illuminations. It was absolutely fantastic!! I don't think there is any age limit, but if you are 12 or under you have to wear a life jacket, so I don't know what they would do for an infant (if that is applicable). I would highly recommend the cruise, but you have to call at EXACTLY 7:00 am 90 days out from the day you want the cruise. The boat holds up to 10 people, but there is also a "breathless" boat that is a wooden speedboat that looked like it seated only 4. On this board under "Theme Park Strategies" there is a whole huge thread on Illuminaitons Cruises about 4 spaces down. They have tons of questions and answers and even have people who want to share a cruise to defer the cost. If you have any other questions, just ask!! Good luck and Happy Anniversary!!

Others have touched most of the points,I will add, AP gets 10% discount. The pontoon boat holds up to 10 adults and 2 children.
You can share the boat with other people to cut the cost. I called
and got the boat about 60 days from my checkin.

Good luck, BTW, I was told it is not called an Illuminations cruise,it's a specialty cruise. They do not guarentee the Illuminations. If the show is delayed for any reason you maynot see the show. It is a 50 minute cruise, and if you go at 8:30 you are on your way back at 9:15. Buyer beware. BTW the pontoon has a roof ,so if it rains you are OK.
