Hi all!

I'm brand new to this site as a contributor (literally just made my handle!), but I have been a "creeper" on this site for many years. I apologize in advance if this is already a thread...I didn't see it in first glance.

I am going down to Disney in early August and secured an Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party reservation for my party. I was really excited about the event because my family loves Illuminations and desserts, so it seemed like the perfect mix. However, after seeing some of the early reviews...I'm not sure it's worth the reservation anymore.

My family loves going to Disney and we have been DVC members since the late 90's. Now that we're all much older, we're changing our usual "go-go-go" Disney vacation to a more relaxed, "try-something-out-of-the-ordinary" vacation.

The ideal reservation would have been the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party...but we booked this trip JUST over 60 days in advance so many reservations are extremely difficult to get (I have been checking the reservation site online and on my Disney Experience app daily).

Has anyone been to the Illuminations Dessert Party recently?

We went to the illuminations party last night. If you want an amazing view of illuminations without fighting for a good stop or being trapped between several people... Then do it!! The desserts are ok. Lots if alcohol in most of them. My kids could only eat the ice cream and fruit. The sparkling drinks are gross... Don't even try it! I think it was worth it for us because it was more about the show than the desserts. Never had such an amazing view

Went last year and it was well worth it. With so many different things WDW has to offer we decided to make this an every other trip event. Cost sometimes a factor. However, every WDW fan should do this once at least. There was NO alcohol in any of our desserts..(Magic Kingdom !) Epcot's dessert party has the alcohol. My family will be doing it again in 2015. Enjoy

yes the desserts did have alcohol in them. This thread is regarding the epcot illuminations dessert party, not the magic kingdom
