Have any of you watched Illuminations from the Matsu No Ma lounge in the Japan pavillion?

Does the lounge stay open that late?

Do the red Torii gate on the shoreline or the island block the view?

Is there seating outside the lounge?

Thanks!

It seems to me there is a tree or some other obstruction blocking part of the view from MatsuNoMa. There is no seating outside the lounge, but there is a balcony. I'm pretty sure the view there is obstructed.

I've watched several times from the porch outside right in front of Matsu-no-Ma lounge. That's a great spot! Either trees or the Tori Gate (can't remember which) keep you from getting a clear view of the globe. Although the lounge is open and there are people in there hoping to view Illuminations, remember there's a porch right in front of it, and the people out there tend to block the view.

Thanks for the help. We'll probably visit the lounge w/o planning to see Illuminations from there.

Hey Rhonna - My wife and I often watch Illuminations from Japan. We stand pretty much in front of the Tori, but back by the "sign post" (You'll know it when you get there). On the ground, not up on the balcony.

No crowds breathing down your neck, no idiots on the railing putting a 3 year old on their shoulders, and the fireworks are high enough that the Tori is not an obstruction. PLUS, you are close to the "ball" and can really see the images!

From this viewpoint, look off towards the Canadian Pavilion and you can see the Wishes fireworks too...

But please don't tell anybody about this spot, it's like, our secret ...

We were hoping to sit down at an eatery.

We've managed to get waterside at Rose and Crown before (although that's chancy) and we thought sitting inside the Japanese lounge and enjoying some sushi and drinks would be nice. I guess if it was really an ideal viewing area it would be talked about more and would fill up each evening.

I'll keep your area in mind if we can't get into Rose and Crown.

Thanks!
