Illness on Wonder

We are sailing Sunday as well. Our First Cruise! So happy to hear that this Bug may be under control. Have already purchased the Lysol and antibacterial products so will definitely do what we can to be pro-active. Thanks everyone for all the tips!

Along with handwshing,

How to prevent getting and spreading noroviruses

•Wash hands often. Wash hands after using the bathroom or changing diapers and before eating or preparing food. Wash hands more often when someone in your home is sick. For hand washing tips, click on the following link: www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/pub/Handwashing/HandwashingTips.htm
•Avoid shaking hands during outbreaks.
•Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer along with handwashing.

Yes, and definitely hand washing.

We cruised on the Wonder January 17-21st -- 3 adults and 2 children (9 & 11). Nobody got sick -- everybody took "staying well" very serious.

Interesting. We did a back to back cruise. 1/14 - 1/17 and 1/17 - 1/21. I talked with a woman whose dh worked on the Wonder. She said that the cruise before ours (1/10 - 1/14?) had over 70 crew members sick. She said it was the flu!!!

Two of my kids came home with coughs that we didn't board with. One had a terrible headache with it. But, no body aches or flu symptoms. We did notice a TON of kids coughing on the cruise. I also noticed a little girl throw up in the hallway on her way to the kids' club. I later saw this little girl in the Oceaneer's Club - lying in the back of the room. Her mom came to pick her up with one of those HUGE beers in her hand. I was livid!!!! My little girl was in the club with her!! But, I didn't see that girl around the ship after that.

Yes, I heard that people were sick on the 1/10-1/14 cruise.

We (3 adults & 2 children) were also on the 1/17-1/21 cruise. No one in our group got sick, on the cruise or after.

I think we were next to you at the lifeboat drill! Section H? We were the big family next to you, I think.

We were in Section Q in Animators.

Wasn't the weather fantastic for the cruise. I'm ready to go again - LOL.

Hmmm, that makes me think...wonder if those life jackets are germ carriers? I know once I had one that absolutely REEKED of perfume. Person in the stateroom before us must have believed in bathing in the stuff. Hopefully germs don't cling as well as scents. I hear all the kids blowing the whistles during the drill and cringe...goodness knows whose mouth was on those things before. Ugh!

I always wondered that too.

I use a disinfectant on them as soon as we get into the room........ and the kids know that they are not to put the whistles in their mouths..........

We were on the 1/24- 1/28 sailing and stayed on the 6th floor and I am happy to report that none of us got sick!!!! I brought a bottle of hand sanitizer and everyone used it frequently as we went in and out of the room.

We were on the 24-28 Wonder sailing and we saw NO signs of illness. Buffets were all self serve etc. We remained healthy as did, to the best of my knowledge, all 18 (? not positive on the final count LOL) cabins booked in our group.

Hubby got sick at WDW 4 days after the cruise but it didn't bother either of us (DS or me) so we decided it was something he ate. He never had a fever/body aches etc. Just lower GI issues... :scared: Glad we had a washer in the villa! yuck.

We were on the January 28-31st 3 Night Wonder and all buffets and the drink station were self serve.

One person got sick during dinner in Animator's but that's the only sign of sickness that I saw. The Mickey pool was closed/drained and refilled on Nassau day but I didn't see it closed any other time.

we had two room 6321 and 6323

my older daughter who was ill friday after getting off of the ship is much better my younger daughter is still sick off and on - she can't seem to beat this virus....her pedi is looking for information from the cdc and will share in the morning.....

Buffets were all normal on the Jan. 31 four night sailing. No signs of illness outbreaks, but I still was fanatical about my hand sanitizer.

My DH and 2 DD's were sick on this cruise. We were mid-ship, deck 7. DH got sick late late Friday night. DD's got sick Saturday evening. All were seen by medical, given meds and quarantined. So, I was in effect quarantined too, since I was taking care of everyone..... The cabin stewards were busy all day Saturday keeping up with cleaning after all the sick folks on our side of the ship. They cleaned our cabin at least twice. To walk down our hall was not a pleasant experience Saturday. But those guys were so diligent and courteous and did their best to take care of all of us. They started staff serving the buffets and drink stations sometime Saturday.

This was our first cruise ever. So, taking the advice of friends, we did the 3 night. Simply not long enough, even if we had all been well for the duration. Next time we're going for a longer cruise.

I am in the process of claiming this on the cruise insurance. SO glad we got it! And hoping for the best. Has anyone else gotten this through the system yet and do you have any advice for making it go smoothly?
Thanks!

Even given all this, I would go again in a heartbeat!
Great good fun.

Oh, and thanks to all the folks that put up the great info for the newbies on what to pack, how to plan, what to expect. That was great help before we went.

I'm curious as to what you are claiming on your insurance? Did Disney charge you to be seen? On NCL, when hubby got sick, there was no charge for the doc visit to our cabin. They assumed it was Noro.

we took a DCL cruise in Sept 07 and dd got sick. Travel insurance reimbursed us for dd and dh being quarrantined and not being able to participate for the one day of our trip.
No kidding. It never occured to me to put in for our insurance when hubby was ill. He spent 24 hours in our room, and then was ready to have fun again (it was a 9 day cruise).

You get reimbursed for "trip interruption". Since they were not able to experience the cruise due to being quarantined, some travel insurance policies refund a portion of the cruise fee.

I had trip interruption. I figured that was if our trip was interrupted..such as a hurricane that stopped us from leaving on our trip. It just never occured to me to collect for the day hubby was ill. Not saying anything is wrong with it if that's what insurance covers. It just didn't occur to me.
