I'll sleep well tonight...

They're still looking for him. I guess they flew between Sunnyside and Spokane today looking for him. There's varying opinions as to how long he can go without his medication before he becomes a real danger. Apparently it started out at 48 hours, now they're saying 14 days. That's an awfully big difference between 2 days and 2 weeks!!!!!

:sad2:I'm scared for people who may not have known who he was and may have picked him up as a hitchhiker or something (not that I would do that, I NEVER pick up hitchhikers, my car is usually too full of sports gear to fit them in anyway... :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:) but colleges are going back to school this weekend. I'd hate to think that some unsuspecting teen picked him up or something... If he was walking, they probably would have found him by now, so that means he's traveling by bus, train, car...

Oh and apparently he lived formerly in an apartment in Spokane and had a 2 block radius he could go, then that was expanded to 6 blocks, then somehow he ended up back in the mental hospital and they won't say why. Gee, that's not concerning or anything...:sad2:

I think the whole lot of them at Eastern States Mental Hospital should be fired. This was about the dumbest idea anyone could have come up with.

Guess who is in between Spokane and Sunnyside?

Me! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

We never think about locking our doors. I'm just reading about this for the first time. Better go check. :thumbsup2

when spokane is trying to encourage travel and visitors is'nt this going to be a tremendous enticement? 'come to the world ice skating finals-just be careful because you don't know who you'll be sitting next to on the state's dime', 'spokane, gateway city to the 2010 olympics-just don't exit the gateway of the airport, and if you do keep your car doors looked and the windows up':sad2::sad2:

it would be interesting to know how much pocket money they permit the patients to have on them-it could be an indicator of what forms of pay for use public transportation he could try to use. if he had a minimal amount then the likelyhood is greater that he will try hitchhiking or jumping a train.

I can't imagine it was much money. If he would have been in the apartments like before, I could see him having more... But I doubt there's much incentive to have money in the hospital.

He literally could be halfway across the country by now if he took the train East. :scared1:

It would be nice if they gave us some more info. What they've given us really isn't that great.

what freaks me out even more is that this guy was previously living independantly downtown but for some reason that dshs is'nt saying at this point was required to return for housing at the hospital (so it was'nt safe for him to live outside the hospital but it was safe for him to roam around the fair????). he was also allowed for a period of time to spend his days at spokane community college where he apparantly attending on the public's dime-so long as he was a good boy and came back to the hospital to sleep nites:scared1::scared1:

this guy has a history of hearing voices and being dellusional. he murdered an elderly woman he perceived as a 'witch'. makes me very concerned for my fellow rural neighbors-many of whom are elderly, and some of whom live on properties that at night look like the sterotypical 'haunted houses'. even scarier is there's not a shortage of halloween decorations already up in some neighborhoods-a delusional guy, off his meds could have a major episode triggered.

Well, I made it through the night, obviously! No creepy people showed up at my house last night.:banana::banana:

But this article doesn't make me feel much better. The union of the workers at the Eastern States Hospital had concerns about the type of patients going on field trips long before this happened. WTH?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,552562,00.html?test=latestnews

If they had concerns, why did they let it happen at all!!!!!!!! :confused3

There's got to be so much more to this story than they're telling us. They couldn't really have been this stupid? Could they?

Yeah, we saw that on CNN

Insane, Killer, Field Trip? Which of these words doesn't belong?

I guess it's no longer news here. I can't find in the local paper or the local news. It's just nuts. I'm going to guess that means they still haven't found him...

I guess we can't count it out that he'll go anywhere in the State. Who knows if the family will give him up either... They may hide him. :scared1:

I pray that those college kids traveling across the state this weekend travel safely and don't run into this yahoo. I'm also going to call my parents and warn them too. They're traveling right now and I'd hate for them to be at a camp ground or something on the way home and run into him.

Boy, this just gets better and better. I read an article on CNN talkign about how they believe the escape was planned because he took a backpack of clothes with him from the institution. Seriously? Did nobody check what he was carrying? Wouldn't that be a red flag to anybody else?

Oh that's comforting Jessi. Sheesh. No one thought to check their bags? I mean, really? Honestly? Geez. I wonder now about the intelligence of the people running this institution...

the family appears to be very supportive in his apprehension. apparantly it was a member of his family (mother?) who allerted the police that they beleived it was he who killed the woman.

I just posted this on the other thread. I mean really, they didn't check out why he had a backpack stuffed full?:confused3

Oh and hi neighbors! I'm in Ephrata...:wave2:
