~i'll be home for Xmas but 1st i'm going to DISNEY WORLD!~ TR link posted!

I too love the Christmas themed countdown! I haven't decided if I just want to reuse the one I've already made for our January trip or if I want to make something new.

That is a beautiful calendar! And it reminds me I totally have to revamp mine since we just moved our dates from January to February...

very good countdown calander, mine is written on my work calander, with the days goind down, so not very exciting, one of these days it will look like yours..

i am thinkin next trip when parker can help out and color on them.

Love the calendar!! Very festive and pretty!! I was thinking of doing one and yours has inspired me....where did you get the Disney Xmas stickers? I wonder if my dollar store would have some? :santa:

i hope i don't go to mickey head swiper jail
:rotfl2:

Do not pass go, do not collect 200 mickey heads!

thanks! my husband was born the first year it was open!

So was I. I didn't go until 1980 though.

that poor little girl! i bet she has contacts now!

What's funny is, she prolly has the same pic taken from her parent's perspective, and she's talking about the little girl with the 80's bow in her hair lol.

Cute countdown!! Anytime I see Disney and Christmas together I get extra excited because it's my 2 favorite things together haha:laughing:

I love your count down! :goodvibes

thanks, man!!!

Love your old pics, Dawn! Makes me want to scan in ours from 1997 - our first trip to the world.

I LOVE your countdown calendar - so Christmasy! I can't believe how quickly Christmas is coming - I don't know where the time is going. :confused3

let me know if you do! i love looking at old disney pics. thanks! time is FLYING by this fall! i'm almost done with my christmas shopping. i'm usually WAY done by now. i'm behind! i don't like the crowds at christmas so avoid the mall between thanksgiving and christmas. i only have a few things left to buy though so i should be okay.

Now that is just downright cute! All green and white and red and silver and gold and festive and all.

I can't wait to see Disney Christmas decorations in two weeks! We're doing the resort windows up for Thanksgiving the first few days, and then either late Thanksgiving night or early Friday morning, we'll change over to Christmas. I hope a lot of people are also decorating their windows. Some people think it's tacky, but we think it's fun.

Good job, as usual! What was the white called? I see Code Red and Friendly Forest, but I can't read the white ones.

thanks! i don't think decorating your window at disney is tacky - it's fun! besides, it's disney world. it's hard to find anything tacky while there!

the white was just called "behr ultra pure white." yeah, kinda boring huh?

Woohoo, a Christmasy countdown calendar!! What could be more exciting!!!? :yay: :woohoo: :cool1:  :dance3:

thanks! i know...i'm getting excited!!! :cool1:

Very cute countdown calendar! Very Christmas-y! I think the gold bows are a nice touch!

thanks! i thought they were overkill but i guess not.

Your calendar is so cool! I :lovestruc it!

Thanks for sharing!

thanks!

Dawn I love your countdown. I bows are perfect for Christmas time!

thanks! i'm glad you guys like them!

I too love the Christmas themed countdown! I haven't decided if I just want to reuse the one I've already made for our January trip or if I want to make something new.

oh, i would reuse my old one if i had kept it!

That is a beautiful calendar! And it reminds me I totally have to revamp mine since we just moved our dates from January to February...

thanks! half the fun of the trip is doing stuff like this!

Great countdown! And I like the bows.

thanks!

definitely! read my next post - i'm going to be doing this tomorrow night with luke!

Love the calendar!! Very festive and pretty!! I was thinking of doing one and yours has inspired me....where did you get the Disney Xmas stickers? I wonder if my dollar store would have some? :santa:

thanks! i had a crazy mix of stickers. i got some disney playhouse, winnie the pooh, tink and cars stickers at walmart and the disney store. then i found the princess christmas stickers and some just plaine ole christmas stickers in the christmas section at walmart (like with the bows and stuff). the dollar tree near my house always has some disney stickers too. the princess christmas stickers are the only ones i've seen that are disney AND christmas.

:rotfl2:

Do not pass go, do not collect 200 mickey heads!

believe it or not, i swiped 60 mickey heads in two days and got away with it. am i slick or what??? :cool2:

so true about that little girl saying that about me! :rotfl2:

Cute countdown!! Anytime I see Disney and Christmas together I get extra excited because it's my 2 favorite things together haha:laughing:

thanks! glad i could make your day.

so two things....

first, i read that steve soares is listing the castle lighting show starting at 6:30 this week. last year it started at 5:45. this poses a problem for me because i made ADRs at kona cafe on our MK day at 6:20, thinking we could leave MK for dinner right after the castle lighting. now, either the time will change and they just have it starting a little later right now because it's not quite dark enough yet at 5:45 to do it OR this is a permanent change and will last the rest of the year.

just in case the latter is true, i called disney dining to see if i could get an earlier reservation for 5:00. no such luck. the only thing they had for a party of 5 was 9:40. so that's a no-go.

THEN i remembered that we were coming back to MK the next night for MVMCP. our plan that day is to go to AK all day, then leave after the 3:45 jingle jungle parade, drive to WL to see the christmas decorations, then head to MK for the party. so i'm thinking as long as we can get to MK by 6:00 that night, we can see the castle lighting show then. and i think that's totally doable. so crisis averted!!!!

ideally i'd like to see it on saturday before our dinner at kona. but if this time change is permanent, then we can deal with it.

so to those of you who are going and returning between now and the time i leave (12/10), let me know what time the castle lighting show was when you were there! thanks. :thumbsup2

okay.....second thing.....

anna called me today and asked if i wanted to go see coldplay with her and her brother tomorrow night. originally chris was supposed to go, but something came up with his mother and she can't watch luke, so now chris has to watch him. i thought about it and as much as i LOVE coldplay, i knew i have court all day tomorrow and depositions on wednesday and i'd be exhausted, PLUS i need to save money instead of dropping $60 on a concert. so i suggested that chris still go to the concert and i watch luke instead. so that's what we're doing. the point of all this being that while i'm there, luke and i are going to work on their countdown. so i'm sure i will have pictures of that! she said to just let him totally make it however he wants to - that it's gonna be LUKE'S countdown calendar! so it should be interesting.

wish me luck - i haven't babysat him alone in a long time. i'm totally fine with him but it's just been awhile since i've watched him on my own. ray will most likely be joining me at some point anyway. we live like 4 blocks from them and he'll get bored at home alone.

that makes me think of a funny babysitting story i have to share! in march of 2006 one of our best friends had a baby and had asked that anna be there. so when she went into labor anna didn't have anyone to watch luke and i volunteered. well, it ended up taking a little longer than they had thought (as labor sometimes does!) and we ended up having to feed him dinner that night. luke was 21 months old at the time and was eating "big people" food, so that wasn't a problem. the problem was we didn't have a highchair! so we improvised. we stacked a bunch of books in a chair and i got a belt and put it around his waist and through the back of the chair so he wouldn't fall off our contraption. check it out......

:lmao:

just call me nanny dawn. :cool2: oh, and yes, that is luke with long hair! they didn't cut it until he was 2 years old - it's a tradition in chris's family with the boys. he was so cute though. everyone thought he was a girl!

well, ladies and gentlemen....tomorrow is november 10th and do you know what that means???
Picture127-2.jpg

That is SO CUTE!!!!! And I love the bows!!! :santa:

Funny I just looked at the old fam pics - which are great BTW - but I was thinking about your brother. I hope he is doing well :goodvibes

I can't wait to see everyone's christmas pics!!

well, ladies and gentlemen....tomorrow is november 10th and do you know what that means???

:yay: 30 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE FOR DISNEY WORLD!!!! :yay:

which means it's countdown time. after two trips to home depot, i accumulated enough mickey heads for my countdown and anna's. anna hasn't done hers yet because she wasn't feeling good today and today's the day we had talked about working on them together. so we can hopefully get together sometime this week to get hers started. i finished mine a little while ago. check it out!

yeah, the bows are a bit much but i couldn't help myself. very christmas-y! :santa:

Picture128-1.jpg

as usual, i have a surprise under each mickey head, along with how many days we have left until our vacation. so i will pull off a mickey head each day until we leave!

here's a sneak peak at the last 2 days on the countdown....

Picture129-3.jpg

i don't actually start my countdown until tuesday because it's technically a 29-day countdown. that's the only way it works in my crazy mind.

anyway, i will post updated pics of my countdown with any other updates i post. and i'll also share anna's countdown once she gets it done. :)

Oh my gosh, that is too cute!!!!! I am thinking of doing a countdown calendar for our February trip for Hollie to pull the mickey heads off!! I need to send Chad to home depot very soon!!!!!!

I will check on the castle lighting show for you!:goodvibes

Great job on the callendar. I love the stickers and the colors you chose. Puts me in the christmas mood. I love the sparkle too. Silver and Gold....Silver and Gold...I wish I could remember the words to that song. Keep the bows. :thumbsup2

Speaking of stickers.
I wanted to share a little Disney magic that happened to me at work. We just got Disney Xmas stickers at my store! Tinkerbell, Winnie & friends, Mickey & gang and the Princesses. :santa:  :santa: My co workers were so excitted to show me, they know my love of anything Disney (even though they don't share it). I bought all of them, I couldn't resist. They are the cuttest, I hope you guys can find them in the US. :wizard:

Yay! I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with Luke, Nanny Dawn! Just don't tie him up with a belt this time. ;)

Good luck making your countdown calendar together! Sounds like a fun night! :thumbsup2

Absolutely love your countdown calendar! I think the bows add a nice little Christmas-y touch! :goodvibes

We'll be down there the week after Thanksgiving, so I'll be sure to let you know what time the Castle Lighting show begins!

And oh my goodness! The belt/book idea is total genius! Way to improvise!

Too bad we're not closer, because we'd join you guys on making a countdown calendar. I love doing little things like that with kids and watching them do it their way - seeing their creativity come through is a wondrous thing! Video some of it for us, if you can.

The more I do things like this with Brooklynn, and the more I think about how it was long ago when I was teaching pre-school and kindergarten, the more I think I'm going to push for a transfer to a lower grade next year. I miss the fun stuff, and with third-grade being such a tough jump academically, we don't get to do any of the fun stuff any more. These kids are 8-9, but they want them to do things we once did in 5th and 6th grade, so it's just constant push, push, push. I miss making crafts and doing fun things at holiday times.

They probably won't let me, because I've hinted around for the last two years about moving down, but they say our test scores are too good in 3rd for me (really us - my co-teacher and I) to move. She's feeling the stress and wants to move down, too. We'll see. Anyway, when you talk about making a calendar with Luke, it just makes me recall how much fun I had when I was teaching the littler ones.

Have fun with your project. I am sure it will be very unique and very sweet. Good for you for saving your money and doing a good deed all at once. It should be a fun evening.

That picture of your homemade highchair is great! Don't worry people call my DD a boy all the time becaus she has no hair, it's very short even if she's in pink.:lmao:

OMG that invention you have Luke sitting on is possibly one of the funniest things I have ever seen :rotfl2: :lmao: I'm definitely laughing out loud haha He was probably so confused as to why he was sitting on top of books with a belt around him instead of in his high chair  Good job "nanny Dawn"! Can't wait to see Luke's countdown :thumbsup2

I had to laugh at Luke's picture with the long hair! We are getting Ty's first haircut in MK at the barbershop. It only needs about 1/2 in. off but it's already driving me nuts!! :rotfl:
