Oh those pics are SO fun! I was born in 1984, so it's nice to see what Disney was like back then. The 1st year my dad went was the 1st year it was open, and I don't think I've ever seen pics of it back then, so it's totally cool to see that not a lot has changed in almost 25 years

Fun pictures from 1984 Dawn! It's nice to see how things have changed - and not at MK! It is really fun for me to see the hair and clothes, etc. because my oldest DS is 2 months older than your little sister! I was 25 then. We thought we were so cool!

Those are great! Baby sister is precious! Won't it be so fun when you and Ray go back with your own little one and take pictures like those? It will add a whole new element to your Disney trips!

I would make fun of your dad's short shorts, but I know that in another twenty years, we'll be making fun of the shorts we wear today, so I better not. I could pull some short shorts pictures out, too, and even worse. I have some of my dad in the three piece leisure suits with the loud swirly shirts. Man, he was stylin' at the time, but now they look just about dorky.

i have a picture of my mom, my dad and me when i was a baby sitting on my desk. i think my dad was maybe 25. he looks JUST like my brother! although i do think my brother looks more like my stepmom as far as his facial features go. but i can just see so much of my dad in him. it's funny because they argue all the time, but they're JUST alike!

Those are so great! I only have a few pictures from being a little girl in Disneyland- I'm so excited to finally have some pics of my own kids at the WORLD!

thanks! i will try to remember to recreate that shot. sometimes when i get there i have amnesia and forget to do some things i meant to. i think all the excitement just messed with my mind!

i wish everyone thought that way, it was mostly the older people that said something, all of the younger ones thought he was so cute, and gave him extra candy for it.

nice thing was that some of the people around my parents house, and some of our close neighbors, gave him a special bag with stuff he could use, like books, clothes, and light up toys...that was very nice

very cool that some people gave him personalized gifts. so sweet! i hope when i get older i'm not such a grouch.

loved the old pictures, wonder if i could wrestle some of them away from my parents, maybe i will just try and take apicture of them and go from there.

let us know if you post some old ones on your TR! they're always fun to look at.

Dawn great pictures. You too were so cute. I love looking at old pictures too. My mom has pictures of me and brother's first trip to WDW, I was 8 as well. We were there in Dec and it was crowded. We went to FL to visit my grandpa who used to go and stay with his sister during the winter months and for christmas one year he bought us plane tickets. Just for me and my brother though (poor mom had to stay home). We left the day after Christmas and stayed until after the New Year.

wow....what a first trip! to be there at christmas time when you're 8 is so magical, i bet!

And, I TOTALLY remember the days of no character lines - what a mob scene it was! And, actually, we went to DisneylandParis last summer and they didn't have lines there. Our first day, Minnie Mouse just walked onto Main Street and there was this mad rush over to her. I didn't even see a handler anywhere near her. Of course, I still managed to shove my daughter and her friend up front for a picture!

yuck! i don't know if i could deal with that or not. i'm not good with chaos and crowds because i get aggravated with people and i tend not to hold my tongue. that's something i need to work on!

Thanks for scanning the pictures from your 84' trip. You and your sister are so cute. You look so happy in all the pictures. I was wearing clothes like that, and my husbands shorts were ridiculously short! So I can't say anything. I love when people put the old pictures in the report, really fun to see.
Good luck at Home Depot, if the PCMH's aren't free they would have a price tag attached! 30 days, getting close.

dad said i would wear that hat and i couldn't see where i was going unless i tilted my head back.

I hope your holiday shopping was fun and successful. I'm trying to stay out of stores right now to save all of my pennies for our trip. I am hoping to get some new Christmas ornaments from Days of Christmas, if they don't cost too much.

i didn't buy anything at that holiday mart thing except for a fried apple pie for ray. it was all crafty stuff and i'm just not into that sort of thing. it was only a dollar though, so it was worth a try! and yes, i am definitely wanted for swiping mickey heads! i didn't get enough, so i'm going to have to go back today to get more. wish me luck.

well, i'm short on mickey heads so i have to run back to home depot today to get some more. so no countdown calendar for you yet! i will post the picture when i'm done.

i got the pictures from our 1987 trip scanned in. for some reason, my stepmom didn't have a whole bunch of these. i think my dad may have the rest. they're divorced now so they each have some pictures of the trips. dad said he'd be happy to give them to me to scan in but he's a boy and boys tend to procrastinate. so i'm sure i'll see them sometime next year!

this trip was in october of 1987. i was 11, my sister was a month shy of 4 and my brother was 14 months old.

here we are in front of the castle. i think my dad told me and my sister to wave. what a couple of nerds!

meeting goofy again! still no lines. just chaotic. i love how my sister is looking up at goofy! check out her jam shorts and the big bow i have in my hair!

brooke, me and my stepmom on the teacups....again with the waving! dad couldn't ride this one because he gets dizzy. funny because he will ride ANYTHING as long as it doesn't spin.

this one cracks me up. that's my sister and my dad on the tomorrowland speedway. my sister is driving, as evidenced by my dad holding his head because she's basically just hitting the railing over and over again because she can't see over the steering wheel!

the theme that year at disney world was a celebration of the 200-year anniversary of the signing of the declaration of independence. although the declaration was signed in 1776 and this was 1987, so isn't that more like 211 years????

i tried to scan in the picture below but it was so dark it didn't turn out, so i had to take a picture of a picture. my sister is pouting - probably sad about leaving disney world! check out my dad's teal-colored pants! those were the days he REALLY started getting into golfing and he wore the craziest outfits - he even had plaid knickers!

so that's it for that trip. i wish i had more but my dad probably has them buried somewhere. i will have more pics from our 1992 trip. i know i've already posted some but my stepmom sent me more.

My dad has slides too!! When we were kids and my aunt and cousins would come and visit, we would have slide shows. My aunt and cousins went on our vacations with us and so we would laugh and laugh at how we looked and what happened on that particular vacation. It was SO much fun

well, ladies and gentlemen....tomorrow is november 10th and do you know what that means???

30 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE FOR DISNEY WORLD!!!!

which means it's countdown time. after two trips to home depot, i accumulated enough mickey heads for my countdown and anna's. anna hasn't done hers yet because she wasn't feeling good today and today's the day we had talked about working on them together. so we can hopefully get together sometime this week to get hers started. i finished mine a little while ago. check it out!

yeah, the bows are a bit much but i couldn't help myself. very christmas-y!

as usual, i have a surprise under each mickey head, along with how many days we have left until our vacation. so i will pull off a mickey head each day until we leave!

here's a sneak peak at the last 2 days on the countdown....

i don't actually start my countdown until tuesday because it's technically a 29-day countdown. that's the only way it works in my crazy mind.

anyway, i will post updated pics of my countdown with any other updates i post. and i'll also share anna's countdown once she gets it done.

Now that is just downright cute! All green and white and red and silver and gold and festive and all.

I can't wait to see Disney Christmas decorations in two weeks! We're doing the resort windows up for Thanksgiving the first few days, and then either late Thanksgiving night or early Friday morning, we'll change over to Christmas. I hope a lot of people are also decorating their windows. Some people think it's tacky, but we think it's fun.
