We are in Illinois now. So far so good.

Lisa had another good meet on Saturday. Travels have gone well. Started the first part of the Illinois visit and Lisa likes it. Tomorrow is a full day with the coaches and then we drive to michigan state for a visit on Tuesday.

The beer sounds good.

Update:
For right now, Jay & I have put the proceedings on hold and are making an effort to start fresh. I'm cautiously optimistic.

If we can do this, I think it will be my best birthday present ever.

Stacey: I love your update! :goodvibes Sending prayers, good thoughts and pixie dust pixiedust:pixiedust: that your fresh start will be the beginning of your Happily Ever After!

We both know it won't be easy. There's a lot of hurt and anger still....and although there's no way to turn back the clock, we both miss what we'd had before we got so off track. And we both know that we want to be together for the rest of life's milestones....Jared's graduation, also his graduation from boot camp if that's what he chooses, weddings, grandbabies....and just us being together after the kids are gone.
We'd gotten away from being friends with eachother.
It won't be easy, but I think it will be worth it.
Nothing like staring divorce in the face to make you stop and think hard about what you're giving up. For both of us.

Stacey, just wanted to say that I'm glad to hear that you & Jay are trying to work things out. Best wishes to both of you.

Jim and Lisa - welcome to cold dreary MI. Good luck with the campus tours!

Stacey - best of luck to you and Jay as you figure out what is best for the both of you.

Now for a heartwarming story: This past weekend, one of my former foster kids came to visit. Emily, 12, is Hispanic and wanted me to take her to get some Mexican candy. We have an area in Detroit called Mexicantown so off we went to search for some candy. There is one main drag and pretty much everything is on there. As we were driving, Emily recognized a street her cousins lived on, a store she thought her family once owned and a restaurant she thought her brother had painted a mural on. We find a grocery store and look for this candy. Jim is down the cookie aisle putting all kinds of stuff in the cart and Emily and Alexa come back with an arm full of candy. Not even out of the parking lot, they start opening up all this stuff so being the only "adult" I make them put it all away so we can go eat lunch first. Emily suggested the "mural" restaurant so we head back and find it. We go in and get seated. A waitress bring us some chips when Emily jumps out of her seat and throws her arms around the waitress and starts crying! Then the waitress is crying! I have absolutely no idea what is going on so I ask the waitress if she knows Emily. Through her sobs she says "This is my sister!". They were all separated when they went into care and no one has had contact since. Well by this time, I am crying, Jim has tears in his eyes and we are all stunned! What are the odds??? Emily's sister had just started working at that restaurant 2 weeks earlier! Definitely one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed! I got her information and then gave it to Emily's adoptive mother. Hopefully they will get to stay in touch!

What a wonderful story! I hope the girls stay in touch. You should have warned that we needed tissues. And thank you for being a foster parent to kids in need.

Well said.

As Sharon and I start looking at Lisa leaving and no more gymnastics it will be like starting over for us. For many years now we have really lived separate lives during the week. It will be really different to actually live together...something we have to look forward to in another 18 months (not that I am counting).
