Il Pochi il Fiero y Blabbermouths...Magical Reunion FINALLY!!!

Congrats on the job Jim! Congrats to Sharon as well for her running.

Today is homecoming at my old high school. I haven't been back since I graduated 35 years ago. Met up with some friends for a tour of the school and then lunch. What a great day. Some things haven't changed a bit while others have changed a lot. So glad we went.

Jim, did you even get to collect an unemployment check? Sorry you have to go back to work so soon. But hey - more money for cruising.

Mary, I've never been brave enough to go back for a reunion. Glad it was fun!

Diana - this really wasn't a reunion. My class must be apathetic because while it was our 35th our class didn't have a reunion. Not that I've ever gone to any of my reunions. I just wasn't in any of the right cliques to want to do that.:) This is just a group of high school friends that I get together with every year. We usually tour a local showcase house done for charity and then lunch. Well they haven't done the showcase house for the last two years. So this year we decided to do the school tour and lunch. It was fun.

Ok Stacey, now we won't mention that you didn't have creamer for the surprise visitor. Maybe he thought he was going to wake up in FL and that Vicki would have had creamer for him. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :surfweb:

That's just it...since his visit WAS a surprise, how was I supposed to know I needed creamer? He just won't let me hear the end of it. :confused3;);)

What a great surprise that was, though!

Jim, great news about the job but sorry you didn't get to enjoy unemployment a little longer.

Garry, I'm with you on black coffee ... blech! I have to have milk or 1/2 & 1/2 to put in mine. None of that dried creamer stuff though.

Girls had a day off yesterday for parent teacher conferences. We were a little disappointed in Emily - she brought home a C on a science test. Her teacher said that her average in science right now is a B but I'm not telling Emily that! Her teacher said that Emily got teary-eyed on Fri. when she got her paper. At least we have one that is sensitive to her GPA!!! Her teacher also said that we should be proud that she surrounds herself with a great group of kids. I know this a big transition year for her & I'm so proud of her so far.

Ashley conference went well too but we had part 1 last week so there wasn't much to discuss. She has all As & Bs too but are still working with her on behavior.

Good Morning All - Back from a fantastic time at Food and Wine, so will post more about that later.....right now catching up at work, so will catch up with your happenings as well.

It seem school, work, space stations and doggies are all going well.

Later...

Yesterday and today are full of good news and bad news.

Yesterday's good news is that I was offered a job and accepted. :thumbsup2

The bad news is that I accepted a job and have not been unemployed enough to really enjoy it yet. There were some fun things I wanted to do before going back to work.

It's a very similar situation to what I just left. A firm decided to open in an office here so they hired our old staff.

It is local, I'll still be able to wear shorts and t-shirts, and Clover will be the office dog. For a while we will all be working out of our homes which will be nice, for a while.

Today, the good news is that Sharon ran 23 miles!!! I'm really proud of her and never thought I would see her get up at 2:55 am to be running at 4:00 am. She did great today. She is back in bed now.

Congratulations Sharon ----- :cheer2:

And congrats Jim on landing a new position. :thumbsup2

Sorry that the forced vacation did not last as long as you had hoped  (NOT).

I'm wishing for a four day work week (even if it is 10-12 hours) so that I can have time to do all the non-work stuff (house, Mother, garden, pets etc) but I am afraid that will never happen. (How do those of you with kids manage????)

So now, I am just trying to find more hours in the day. If anyone sorts that out, let me know - please...

Take care all...still catching up.

I was wondering how things were going after your post on the parent teacher conference post last week. Hopefully it will work out for Ashley.

Maybe Emily needed an awaking that it is time to study now ..... a lesson we all learn at some point.

Keep up the good work.....

I don't. That's why my house is ALWAYS a disaster!

That, and the fact that when mine were little, I never got any sleep. I did a lot of the "extra" things at night when they were in bed. Created a bad pattern, though...I still have trouble going to bed early.

Sounds pretty good!:thumbsup2
Jared has conferences next week. I'm not too worried, his progress reports have all A's and B's, with one C that he got yelled at for. He seems to have gotten used to the one teacher who only grades one question on each paper. Luckily he decided he was better off to get on her good side and stay there. And now I'm glad I was in Omaha so that I didn't go to the school and blast her like I wanted to!!

I wish Mike would have some of Emily's attitude. His 9 week exams and grade check is this week. He pulled his english grade back up to an 80 from a 73 (a D) His best most inventive excuse yet, her grading objectives on a failed essay included less than 7 "to be" verbs, but it would make his essay awkward so he ignored the items she was looking for. (need a head smaking smilie here)

While 9 week grades aren't finalized yet, at least he has much wider margin in English to avoid the "no pass, no play" extra curricular policy which goes into effect at a 69 at the time of grade checks. The rest of his grades started off well, so even though they are slipping, he should be able to get through the rest of the hectic marching band season with Bs - marching band and jazz band are easy 100s - so, I don't count those...

Another "doesn't get done" vote - I'm in bed by 9:30 most nights. We used to entertain a lot so I would be forced to clean on a regular basis - now, we're just too busy to think about having friends over. My parents arrive next week for a long weekend, and the following week, John's parents will be in town, so I really am under a deadline. Since we're not home, most of the house stays rather neat with a little bit of clutter;the kids' rooms are another story.

Well eventually you get fired as "Mom" and all that seems to have gone by really quickly. Kind of miss it sometimes.

It's official, Alicia will be wearing Apple Blue soon. It will look good on her. She is very, very happy. And we are very proud. heck, I'm a little teary, knowing what she's been through to get to this point. This is a tough gig to get, I hear. Maybe she will now take school more seriously. These smart kids we have, they sure figure out how to do the minimum to get by, don't they?

I don't have it in me to stay up late at night ... wish I did though. I'm one of those people that needs at least 8 hours of sleep. So my house just stays messy!
