Il Pochi il Fiero y Blabbermouths...Magical Reunion FINALLY!!!

One week already since RJ joined the family. Megan's lucky, he's another really good baby.
He lost almost a full pound since he was born, so the doctor wants her to feed, feed, feed him....but half the time he isn't interested. On the whole, he's healthy and doing great, though.

They shoot a lot of westerns in our town, just finished one in fact. No big stars in this last one, though, but they were sure there a long time. I never seem to run into any of the stars when they're here anyway.

THEY HEARD BOUT YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with or with out BUBBLE WRAP ??????????????????????

good mornin all

Good morning everyone!

What fun for Kevin!

Stacey - RJ is adorable. So glad you are getting to spend time with him and Ronan.

Ang - "new" job is going well. The gentlemen I'm replacing had his last day yesterday so I'll see how well I kept notes! LOL! Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope it heals up fast.

What a cutie! Looks like a bruiser.

Does Megan know about all the trouble two little boys can get into? Ronan's got a PIC.

Stacey - thanks for posting the pic - he really is adorable and sure looks like a full grown baby.....

what does Ronan think of his baby brother?

The LAST thing Ronan needs is a partner in crime!! We spent the better part of one day putting locks on all the cupboards and drawers. He's a curious one, for sure. I think it will be good for both Megan and Dave to be on their toes a little more. I can't wait for a year to go by and see how much the two of them (mom and dad) have to jump and run.:rotfl: They're both just a little too laid-back, if you ask me.

The first day or so, Ronan didn't really pay any attention to RJ. But now that he sees the "kid" is here to stay, he's more curious. He wants to pat him, or poke him, or take his pacifier away.....but he's really too young himself to realize that it's here to stay. He gets jealous when RJ gets a bottle, and of the attention he gets. We all work to make sure someone is spending time with Ronan if Mom or one of the other of us has RJ.

RJ surely is cute!

I remember when we brought Ashley home. After a few days, Emily asked us when she could go back ... :scared1:!!!

I'm doing much better. The knee is still a little bruised but I can almost kneel again. I'm sure in another week I'll be good as new!

Stacey, I'm just a huge klutz. My best friend used to call me Grace! I don't think I ever go a week without having some sort of bruise on my body. Emily has got my "gracefulness" ... poor girl! At least she doesn't have any mishaps when she dances.

Girls went to meet their teachers yesterday. Seemed to like Emily's ok but the jury is still out on Ashley's. That poor girl has not had a good teacher yet. Does she have something in her file that gets her put w/ the bad teachers???? Maybe our first impression will be wrong ... I hope so. Time for me to go to bat for my little girl ... I'm sure you all remember me having to do the same w/ Emily years ago. Ashley's reading ability is phenomenal & she didn't miss any questions on the state standardized test. I truly feel she needs to be placed in advanced reading. No indication has been made that she would be. Come Monday, I'll be communicating with school. I don't feel like I'm one of those parents that sees more in my kids than their true ability ... with Emily, math was her subject & we were right on. Ashley's not great in math but her reading is WAY more advanced than Emily was at that grade. I am proud of Emily ... she's still in advanced math & this year got moved to accelerated language arts (skip a grade). I do need to talk to the teacher about the content of what they'll be reading though. She'll be doing 6th grade level reading in 5th grade & she's a young 5th gradef (only turning 10 on Wednesday when all of the other kids will start to turn 11 next month).

Sorry for the school rambling...

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Emily's b-day party is at the house tonight. 8 girls (including mine) over for a cake decorating party then Emily's 4 best friends to sleep over afterward.

I'm in the throes of back to school shopping. Got almost everything on a list that seems to get bigger and bigger each year. I just got back from getting her hair trimmed and the hunt for all white gym shoes (part of her uniform) begins tomorrow! School starts on Sept 1st and the teacher meet and greet is on the 30th. I'm not ready for her to go back yet! :confused3 I liked the relaxed schedule of the summer.

Susanne...I am amazed at the list of things we have to buy for the kids to take to school. We never had to do that back in the "old days" when I was in school!
Jared got in trouble with a teacher already for not having the "mandatory" paper punch in his binder. And he's a JUNIOR! As strict as the schools are, I'm surprised they'd want the kids carrying paper punches, they could be used as a weapon.:sad2:

Angie, we may also have a problem teacher already. Not sure if I already posted this, but Jared's calculus teacher is only going to grade ONE question on each paper....even if it has 50 questions on it, if the kids get the one question wrong (of her random choosing) and all other 49 questions correct, they could conceivably get an "F". :headache::mad: Jay told Jared to make copies of each of his completed assignments, and that if by the end of the semester he's failing, we're going to have a major pow-wow at the school.
We've always tried to teach the kids that they had to get along with their teachers whether they liked them or not, because they would someday have bosses and fellow employees, etc, that they may not like. But in this case, I honestly think what she's doing is really not fair and I will be at that school like a raging bull.

Sorry to let you know that it doesn't end after grade school. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

Hi All!

Stacey - love the pictures!

School starts Monday, the kids are ready and excited. School supply lists come on the first day. I've given up gathering supplies early because the teachers always want specific items. If I purchase early, I wind up guessing wrong.

Air conditioning is being replaced on Monday. Checked into a hotel for two days until John got home. Our AC guy brought a loaner window unit and we borrowed a 2nd from a friend. We're camped out in two bedrooms. Thankfully, mike doesn't have a refrigerator in his room or we'd never see the kids.

Your posts reminded me why I've been jumping up and down for joy that Tori is a Senior and after this year I am DONE with the public school system!! :woohoo:

Tori still has a physical reaction when she is reminded of her 2nd grade teacher. :headache: Luckily, she has had some amazing middle & high school teachers. :goodvibes

(and all the other elementary teachers were wonderful too! ;))

Stacey, the 1 random question grade is ridiculous. :headache: So basically it's A or F??? :sad2:

Except after high school, there's college. And school supplies are a drop in the bucket compared with college textbooks. Alicia was storing some stuff for a friend this summer, and we were seriously considering kidnapping the calculus textbook in his box for next semester. It's a big one, and as far as we can tell, they run about $50 a pound.

Stacey, that sounds like a seriously lazy teacher.

That's an INSANE way to grade ... definitely doesn't seem right. Maybe the weighting is different on those papers versus a test?

You are right about trying to teach kids they have to get along with teacher. But I just feel bad that my baby girl hates school ... I feel strongly that's just a reflection of the teachers that she's had.

Our schools (elementary anyway) hand out supply lists on the last day of school. This year we had the option to purchase through school & have it ready & waiting for us. We opted for that since the price was right & kept me from having to fight the crowds at Walmart. I think most people must be taking advantage of that because Walmart hardly had any stock or variety. We couldn't even find pink pearl erasers!!!

Glad you are getting some relief from the heat. I'm sure Monday won't get here soon enough.

I've been wondering if Jared's teacher was going to weigh the grades differently. I won't know till I get home.
Angie...I totally understand how you feel . We didn't try telling the kids that til middle school.

Diana, can you get any of Alicia's books online or on ebay?

Mary..are you liking your new position?

Jim..where can I access a list of any Disney marathons? My nephew runs and they'd like to combine a trip with a run. Thanks.

Stacey, we buy all of her books used, most from Amazon. The school bookstore actually had the best price on a used French book - $95!

We have learned not to buy NEW books from Amazon, though. If the student changes their schedule, drops the class, Amazon charges something like a 30% restocking fee on textbooks!

There is only one Marathon at Disney and that is in January. Just google disney marathon.

So far so good. The real test will be tomorrow (Monday). The person I'm replacing had his last day on Wednesday and I was off Thursday and Friday (planned before I took the job) for Irish Fest.

We spent 4 wonderful days up in Milwaukee for the fest! Saw so many wonderful performers. Monica I thought of John when we saw this group called the Red Hot Chile Pipers! I think he would love them.

The only downside for the weekend was we found out one of the members our our favorite band is facing a recurrent cancer. We thought he had been sick when we saw him late last year and it was confirmed by someone we met at the fest and then this morning when I got to speak to him before Mass. You all know I'm a firm believer in prayers so if you have room on your prayer list please add Chuck Ward. He's a great guy.
