We've all seen the bazillion ads on Facebook & Instagram. I did the "online test" twice, and was 100% honest. First time, they sent me a shade that made my skin look peach/orange. Then I tried to return it and it was too late, and they charged me for it. Being a sucker, I tried again and they sent me a shade that was just too dark. I was able to return it, thankfully.

It's a pretty decent marketing campaign. They flood social media with women and men that apply it & it looks beautiful. In fact, now I'm starting to see people like Molly Ringwald push it as well.

Have any of you taken the test & received a color you liked?

I tried it once and the color was way off and the foundation had a nasty chemical smell. I immediately started the return and had no issues with that, they even let me keep the free brush with purchase gift. Product was crap but customer service was at least good.

I tried this a few years ago and the first colour I received was not the right shade (a little too dark) although wasn't a million miles away. I was fortunate that I think they offered a colour match or free replacement if the shade was wrong, without having to return the original. So they matched me again and sent me a new shade which ended up being a pretty decent match.

However I realised i didn't like the foundation in general as it was way too heavy for my liking, even when trying to apply lightly, and sank into my pores and didn't look good at all.

I've since discovered MAC's Studio Fix Powder Foundation which is much better for my skin type, a great shade match and you can even get this matched in person!

I am curios. Did you feel if you had the right shade that it would give the coverage that it advertises?
I am very light skinned. Both times, they matched me WAAAY off. Even if I applied it lightly, it gave a streaky, mis-matched look. But I do hear some people love the color they were matched with.

I have been curious but your experiences sound similar to everything I've read on Reddit. They appear to be one of those companies that sanitizes social media like Facebook, so you never see the negative reviews. On Reddit I found a number of people getting shades that were way off and many experiencing difficulties returning/exchanging...like all kinds of excuses why they wouldn't refund their money for the first shade. I've actually been more interested in some of the skin firming gels and fillers, but my guess is they're equally as gimmicky/borderline scammy.

I see a lot of the same faces advertising for other products as well (collagen supplements, skin treatments, etc). Probably one large marketing company with many different products.

I fell for it, too! The shade was waaayyy off, I contacted them and they said to donate/trash the bottle and sent me a new shade. The color was better, but I didn't like how it looked on my skin or the scent (I am very scent sensitive), I contacted them again and I got a refund. Their CS was pretty good in my experience, but I don't care for their foundation. I do like Laura Gellar baked foundations, they market it now to the over 50 crowd, but you definitely don't have to be over 50 to use it! I started in my late 20's. I am a sucker for Instagram ads and buy all sorts of foundations. I recently bought Laura Mercier - it's just okay and is fairly pricey ($65 a bottle), I also bought the Jones Road Beauty foundation (Bobbi Brown) and it's not bad for the winter when my skin is dry. But, I always go back to Laura Gellar.

Funny but a friend recently told me she was swayed by all of the celebrity marketing for Spoiled Child collagen. She said it did nothing and didn't even taste good.

LOL, I was going to mention that product!!! Alyson Hanigan (?) is always in the ads. I think I saw Debbie Mazur, too. HAHA, I think they're all associated to be honest. The supplements, the collagen, the makeup. Blech. I wish there was a way to block that stuff.

I haven't tried the foundation but I love their lipsticks and eyeshadows. I hear mixed reviews, too.
