Ikea mattress?

Does anyone have any experience with an Ikea mattress? We're shopping for a new king size, and Ikea's price is really good. I'm just wondering if they're durable. Our alternative is a name brand at Costco, which is slightly more expensive, but local, and has Costco's return policy.

We've had 4 Ikea mattresses, three twins and one full.

We purchased the most inexpensive twins, two of which were foam, seven years ago for our kids. While we still have the mattresses, the kids constantly complain about them (they are just too thin and uncomfortable from wearing out) and we need to replace. The full mattress was more expensive and my 15 y/o son uses it. I actually slept on it a couple of weeks ago when he was away for the weekend and I found it way too hard, but he seems to like it and it has held up very well.

Although all of our bed frames are from Ikea, if I was shopping for a mattress for myself (which I will be soon) I would not purchase at Ikea and plan to buy from Costco.

All 4 of my kids have Ikea mattresses and they are all very comfortable. I have had to sleep with my twins many times when they have been sick and I find them to be great. We have the more affordable foam ones. I wouldn't have a problem sleeping on them. Our Queen mattress isn't from IKEA. We have a temperpedic for my husband as it was the most helpful thing we found for his arthritis. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to save the money and go with IKEA. Good luck.

We bought a king sized bed and mattress from Ikea almost 2 years ago. It is the best mattress I have ever slept on. I highly recommend it.

i don't know about ikea, but we are very impressed with costco mattresses :thumbsup2
we have one queen & one twin (both memory foam), and the quality is outstanding - just as, or significantly more, comfortable as any of the many other mattresses we tried.
great return policy too!

Our bed was from Sam's Club. When we bought ikea twin mattresses for our twins in 2007 I was really impressed with the quality for the cost. A few years later we decided to get an ikea mattress for ourselves, and I've been very happy with it. I'd definitely recommend trying out ikea beds to see if there are any you like.

We split the difference. We have an IKEA bed and Costco mattresses. We bought the Costco brand memory foam mattress and then when that was a bit too firm, added their gel topper. We've been very happy with all 3 pieces and I love the peace of mind that comes with Costco's return policy.

I got my son's mattress at Ikea and I don't care for it. It was one of the cheaper models at Ikea so that probably had something to do with it. I just got a memory foam King mattress on Amazon for $600 and I love it.

If you have the funds, the high end mattresses from IKEA are heavenly. The affordable ones may not last as long as you'd like them to.

I have the Sultan Hansbo from Ikea and love it. Keep in mind that I'm the only person who sleeps on it most of the time. My boyfriend hates it- partially because I've slept in the same spot and it made a dent. For me it works but for both of us- not so much. I've had compliments from people who have slept in it before while house sitting so it's pretty comfy!

It was cheap and I don't plan on keeping it forever. Just until I get a new King Bed and it will retire to the second bedroom.

Thanks everyone! I think we're going the Costco route, for their return policy. Our current mattress is only 4-5 years old, and it's awful. There are two people shaped canyons in it, and that started happening about 2 years ago. Unfortunately, it was purchased at some bargain basement closeout place due to limited funds at the time, so it had no warranty or any other recourse. So a good return policy is number one this time around.

Too bad, purchasing at Ikea would have meant another trip to Disney.. :rotfl2: You can't drive 2 hours to Orlando and NOT go.. I mean, really..

How funny, I just realized that we probably shop at the same Costco. :goodvibes I've heard that they may build another store; I certainly hope so, Town Center is nutz! I think we purchased ours online, DH HATES going to Costco with me anymore unless it's a weekday morning as it always seems to be jam-packed.

That was our experience. Luckily our Sultan Hasselbeck (or something like that...very close to the last name of the football players) was under warranty when I happened to mention the huge dents the mattress was getting, and we were told firmly that that is NOT supposed to happen and that they wanted us to return it. I had to do some research (with Ikea's help) to find the receipt/their record of the sale/CC statement from an old account) and ask a friend for help, but we did haul the very dented King-sized mattress in, and they gave us a refund. It was pretty cool.

Bought two frames with the refund, and bought a new mattress from Sears. (which I also wouldn't do again but that's a different story)

We bought a queen size Ikea mattress for our spare bedroom. I sleep on it sometimes when my boyfriend's snoring becomes too much. I HATE it. I even put a foam topper on it and it is still very unpleasant to sleep on. It's very hard and not comfortable. Then again, our other mattress is a TempurPedic and is like sleeping on clouds, so that is what I have to compare it to. But those mattresses are extremely expensive so we simply grabbed the cheapest one Ikea had to offer.

if you are looking for memory foam www.bedinabox.com is the best I found. Their most basic bed is their best in my opinion (I went to a store 4 hours away to try them all before I bought... there are not many stores that care them). A king is 800$ for the base model 9 inches. I was surprised I found the base model the most comfortable, but it really is! I believe there is also a 60 day money back guarantee as well.
