Ike

so while i was sleeping, Ike turned into a category 4 hurricane

and now they're predicting that he'll turn north (rather than head for the gulf)...
although, he's pretty far away still, so it's probably anybody's guess where he'll go at this point...

well at least it looks like Hanna's going to miss Florida completely....

i'm obsessing about all this because DD (AKA Hannah) arrived at WDW yesterday!
so i apologize for being so irritating about the hurricane reporting...

My family is scheduled to arrive in WDW on the 9th at about 8:30 am. I am freaking out and hoping for some good news that our flight will still not be interupted. I hope it is early enough to fly down. We are flying spirit airlines out of atlantic city.

The site we use in planning for these here at the fire department is noaa.com. It's showing Ike back in the Bahamas by Monday and Tuesday then heading towards FL (you can check the 5 day projection).

If Josephine stays on track, she'll miss FL and the surrounding area and hit further up the east coast or go back out to open water.

Love the hurricane reports-we just missed Hanna (hopefully!) and are going to Disney in 13 days. DMIL's flying and her flight cannot be delayed by any crazy storm as she's surprising our boys!

I am also watching closely. We go to Disney on Saturday and according to WFTV weather, Ike has tropical storm winds as far out as 140 miles from the center of the hurricane. Rain won't stop me from the parks but I'm guessing the wind might! Let's hope that it turns Northeast and heads back out to the Atlantic.

We're waiting for Hanna to hit us. All prepared. At least it does not look too bad. I think everyone around here is really just watching for Ike and holding their breath.

We're getting ready for Hanna also.

We're supposed to leave for WDW next Wednesday. We plan to leave at noon and arrive in Orlando around 9:00pm-10:00pm. The last I heard Ike was a Tropical Storm. Then, this evening, I heard it was a Cat 4! I'm VERY concerned that Ike is gonna interfere with our arrival. If it hits Miami and tracks North, we're gonna have to drive through it. Not the safest thing to be doing. I'm hoping the storm continues to track west or slows down long enough for us to arrive in Orlando safely. I just want to get checked in!! Then, I guess I'll be worried about our property back in NC while I'm there (if it tracks North). Not a good situation any way you look at it.

We're preparing to see Hanna this weekend. Probably a lot of rain and very breezy by the time she reaches here, but I'm really watching out for Ike. We leave for WDW early Thursday!

the current track shows Ike smacking right into southern florida on tuesday evening...but that's still a few days off, so maybe it will change....here's hoping...

actually i was just looking at the weather underground website - it shows there are conflicting projections for Ike...some of the computer projections show it turning up towards southeastern florida..
other projections show it heading for the straits of florida (into the gulf)...
so it seems to be anybody's guess at this point..
