I don't ignore posters nor do I report posts. I find it easy enough to skip posts I don't want to read. That said, I can think of one reason why someone would tell another poster they're putting them on ignore. Some people would argue with the wall & never let things go. Telling them you are putting them on ignore could explain why you wont be replying to their inevitable response to your post. Other than that, I don't really get it either.

I don’t report posts…now. Back in the day I was very petty about a post of mine that was reported, so I reported every single post I saw that broke one of the same rules. Not sure if anything came of that reporting but I suspect not. I think my points back then was a result of a vendetta someone had against me.

Likewise here. Several posters ask everything. Not seeing those does clean up the first couple pages immensely. And yes, some days, those pages do get pretty short, I suppose after a heavy drop. But that's fine.

So they respond to your post. You're not going to see it. It's like walking out of the room and closing the door. Who cares if they reply?

I suppose some people want to let them know they've had enough & won't see their reply, so there's no reason to waste their time typing it. They may also want to let people know they're not ghosting the entire thread. They just won't waste anymore time on a particular poster. Some people appear to get really annoyed, if someone posts in a thread, then doesn't replying to posters that quote them.

I read too quickly and thought you ended with « weirdo » rather than « wenrob » and was thinking « well, that could explain some of the ignores.

I have a few people on ignore that were unnecessarily rude to the point that it was bad for my overall mental health to read their posts and replies. Every once in a while I'll go into a thread and see the 'show ignored content' link and click on it, only to find that they're still at it so I made the right choice.

I don't mind the questioning threads; I like to see what everyone answers. It bugs me that the OP never posts again once they've asked the question. They've recently changed names so they know who they are if they're even reading this-I suspect they're a bot.

Nobody needs to ignore you because of your signature. They can just block signatures.

Hope this doesn't count as resurrecting a zombie, but I've gotten to know most everyone on this thread to a certain degree....so wanted to ask -

What does the ignored person see? I know they don’t get notified, but can they still read your posts on their end? Sorry if I missed it.

I think it is okay. The person/s I ignore may not have a problem or irritation with me, as I do with them. So if I ignore them, they should still be able to read what I say, unless they don't want to, then they can ignore me. There is always the option on my end to click a link to view people whom I am ignoring. Sometimes a thread has a crazy continuity because an ignored post is not visible to me. I can temporarily view the post to make sense out of a thread. Then the person automatically is on ignore again.

Page 4 of this thread, starting at post 63 answers that. @Pea-n-Me did a "test" ignore of me. I got no notification, and could still see her posts.

The only way the ignored person would KNOW they're on ignore would be if you (general) told them. They might SUSPECT it if you stop replying to them, but there's no way for them to know for sure.

Odds are, the person you are ignoring has no idea you're ignoring them.
