Honestly, I'm so tired of the stupid things people are doing to "Boycott the French". Mom & I went grocery shopping today. I was buying some sauerkraut. It was imported from Germany. The label happened to be English on one side and French on the other (I assume for sale in Canada). I remarked to Mom , look a French label on a German product. Three old biddies opened their mouths about NOT buying French products, including French Fries and French cut green beans. I guess that means no French Rolls, French Vanilla Ice Cream, French Bread, etc. How dumb can people be? If you don't want to buy French products, fine, but maybe you should be sure they actually ARE French products  I'm sure not buying a can of Del Monte beans will really send a message to the French government - DUH!

The next person that sticks their nose in my shopping cart will get an earful.

For goodness sake. DH is currently eating French bread. I better go snatch it away from him!

No French Vanilla Ice Cream?????!!!!Are these people INSANE?????????

;) ;)

Seriously, why on earth would you ban something just because it said "french" on it

Crimeny! What about things like Au Jus sauce? or Bernaise? are we suppsoed to stop eating things even SOUND like they might be French?

get a life people!!

Im with you Chuck! They can ban all they want but stay out of the way of my French Dip sandwhich! :)

Those shoppers remind me of that scene in the old 80's movie Better off Dead

This crazy lady is trying to impress a French exchange student... she cooks French Bread, French Fries, French Dressing, and French Toast...

It was hysterical how off this crazy lady was...

Chuck you should of told them that they couldn't french kiss anyone anymore!LOL

And the ignorance doesn't stop there...

A friend of mine at work is from India but she is an american citizen and very proud to be one. She became an american citizen about 8 yrs ago and put flags up around her desk and they are still there...
She said alot of indian businesses here are hurting really bad because people are boycotting them also!! I assume out of ignorance? Sad...

bumcat.. don't get me started.

Indians are the most peace loving people that I know. ON 9/11 I went to work, and they had the news on of people chanting and burning the American flag..

One ignorant woman said, those Indians should never be able to come here to me.

First I gave her a geography lesson, then I went off on her about Indians and how it isn't the same ideals, culture anything...

I think I even swore at her.. which for me is very unusual....

My DH had to "give a talking " to one of his teammates at work regarding this. Fortunately most of the HR department is Indian.. all he really had to say is "you say that junk on the 12th floor and you are out of a job. Consider yourself warned"

Oh Binny, I'm with you on the French Dip - I would eat it every day if I could (esp from Houlihans)

Chuck, I am glad you said it. I didn't want to be the nasty Canadian who said it. As a Canadian, I don't feel responsible for everything my government says and does and I think it is unfair to hold all things "French" accountable for the actions of its government.
Just MHO.

DH and I always joke about that movie, it was so funny when she was serving dinner...always reminds me of something my mother would do.(short of wrapping up tv dinners for Christmas gifts!)

Don't forget to boycot French braiding

;) just teasing. It's frustrating, isn't it, Chuck?

How silly! Do they really think that everything French-related is actually imported from France?

If anyone tries to talk me out of buying my brie cheese, they're in for trouble! ;)

Uh oh...2 oldest sons have a French last name.....Do I have to boycott them?? lol

What bothers me is that Americans who are boycotting French products are pressuring those os us who will not boycott French goods.

Is it really anyone else's business if I buy French goods?

NO!

Pax,
Diane

Now I ask you, is there anything more American????
