IG vs main entrance

My plan is to hit Frozen and the A&E M&G first on my Epcot day before we have brunch at Akershus (ADR at 11 am). I'm coming from the Poly. Should I try to go through the main entrance or IG? Does it make much of a difference? TIA!

I would enter through the main entrance. It might not make that much of a difference but I feel like that one is closer. They are probably equidistant.

If you are there at RD, you will have plenty of time to do those two attractions before your 11 am ADR. IMHO, there is no reason to go out of your way to enter from IG.

I find rope dropping from the IG ‘easier’ generally speaking. Less people, it’s fun to walk through a small piece of an empty World Showcase, etc. FEA ‘feels’ closer - if that’s your destination - but someone who has timed / measured it may prove me wrong.

Obviously going to the IG involves getting to whatever resort you’re being dropped off at, the walk through the resort, the walk to the IG, so there’s a time commitment there.

But I don’t feel passionately one way or the other.

We walk in through IG all the time. We are here now. When they open, you cannot go to your right (towards Frozen). It is roped off with a CM there. You have to walk all the way around. We did this one morning (had no Fps) and the line was not that bad.

We go straight to Soarin all the time from here and the people coming from the Main Entrance get there before us too (and hubby and I walk fast........).

It is actually a shorter walk to the left (past UK, Canada, and Mexico), than it is to the right (past France, Morocco, Japan, USA, Italy, Germany, Outpost, and China). Not much, but it is. Norway is almost directly across the water from the IG.

I know this isn't your question, but why? From the Poly, it would probably be faster and easier just to walk to the TTC and take the monorail to Epcot. If you uber, you have to wait for the uber to arrive, then it's a long drive to Epcot, then you have to go through the parking lot with the slow traffic from all the morning arrivals. Monorail seems like a no-brainer.

do not know how uber would get you to IG as there is no parking there

I think the Touring Plans folks tested this out earlier this year. They did a rope drop video with people entering at both sides. I don’t recall the conclusion for FEA and which entrance worked out better because I last watched it in February, but you can watch to see: https://touringplans.com/epcot/rope-drop

As far as distance, I just worked all the options up in Google Maps.

From the front entrance of Beach Club to the Norway pavilion - 0.7 miles
From the International Gateway to the Norway pavilion - 0.5 miles
From the Monorail exit to the Norway pavilion - 0.5 miles

So it's a closer walk from the monorail, but a wash from the IG. Since you are coming from the Poly, I'd just take the monorail. I'm not exactly sure why you are planning to use an Uber in any case.

And out of curiosity, from the International Gateway to the Norway pavilion proceeding counterclockwise (to the right at the IG) - 0.7 miles.

Sometime back Robo had a drawing and times showing almost no difference between coming in through the main gate or IG. i was surprised, but the distance works out.
It really depends on the person at the IG. we usually come in that way. Sometimes the person lets you in a little early, sometimes very late. That makes more difference than the distance.

Definitely agree-sadly the "IG Experience" as we know it will "soon" come to an end when Disney Skyliner brings 4 more Resorts to the IG in addition to the current 4.

Just FYI, it wasn’t the OP coming from Poly that chimed in about “taking Uber to Epcot in any case” - we don’t know where that poster is coming from. I’m guessing not Poly (but just a guess).

I’m coming from offsite and taking Uber to get around instead of renting a car. Sorry for the confusion. Sounds like main gate is best

They'd have to get dropped off at one of the four Epcot resorts and make the walk from there. If that is the case. coming in the Main Gate is less walking.
