We've been living in SC for almost 2 years now since moving from northern NJ and I really like where we live now but there are certain little things I miss from NJ/Metro NYC. For others who have moved from one area of the country to another, or perhaps from one country to another, what things do you miss from your old home area?

For me, certainly my friends would be at the top of the list but for the smaller things:

I miss NY radio; Scott and Todd in the morning on WPLJ; WFAN and sports talk radio in general. We get ESPN radio here but it doesn't have crazy NY sports fans (God love them) calling in with nutty trade ideas, etc. I really miss that.

I miss Italian food stores where I could get great sausage, cheeses, prosciutto, etc. We had some good ones in northern NJ but the really great places were on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Trust me, this is not something you get easily in this part of the south. (But boy, do we have great barbecue;) )

Don't laugh at me--I miss Nordstrom! I loved that store. Oh, the shoes:cool: If we're in Orlando, I have to make a special trip to the mall!

There are a few other things but I'd like to hear from some other people. So, what do you all miss from "home"??

I know exactly what you mean! I moved to Florida from Northern NJ over 14 years ago and I still miss good bagels. There is just nowhere in Florida to get decent bread. The humidity is just too high for a good crust.

I miss the thrill and excitement of NYC. I used to drive my car in the City everyday. It made me feel alive.

I also miss the springtime. Here we have 11 months of heat and 1 month of "holy cow, where'd that cold weather come from?"

However, when I hear that my sister is dealing with months and months of snow, I remember why I moved down here in the first place. Well, that and Disney, of course!

:sunny:

I moved about 24,000km from london england to auckland new zealand - you go all that way and what do I miss, but food.

I miss ben and jerry's ice cream, I miss doritos, I miss a chocolate bar called a Topic (which you can't even get in the english store in epcot, I tried), I miss diet drinks that aren't coke or pepsi, I miss meals in boxes and I miss good diet salad dressings.

I also miss the english's obsession with celebrity gossip, wearing high heels, and my partner's old five weeks holiday a year. but most of all I miss wdw - it's no longer a 7hr cheap flight away, but an 18 hour trek that involves four figures on flight alone. Still little brother gets married next september in england so I can tack on a trip from there - am already counting the days.

I'm in college, so I will be returning home in a couple of months, but the things that I miss most when I'm here in Boston:

My CAR (I hate not driving!), a more efficient subway system, REAL pizza/chinese/and bagels, Ralph's Italian Ices, my family and friends.

I also miss Bloomingdales (it's an hour away without a car) and the selection in the stores in general. Retail stores can carry different things from city to city.

Believe it or not, sometimes I miss the New York attitude!
