If you've gotten rid of your landline phone, who is your service provider for your internet wifi service? Right now we have Time Warner for our landline phone and wifi, but their prices are so expensive I don't want to use them any longer. I'd like to get rid of the landline but I need to get a different provider so we can use all of our electronics at home on wifi.

I've never had a landline in my adult life however I think it depends on who services your area.

With that said, we have DirectTv for our TV and then they have a partnership with AT&T and we receive $10 off our internet through AT&T.

Together I believe we pay about $120/month.

I've never had line line either since being out my parent's house. We have Direct TV, whatever the lowest package is, and pay $58 a month. We have the fastest package of Verizon Vios and pay about $60 a month. I prefer Verizon far more than when we were using Comcast.

Verizon wireless cell.
Intenet through AT&T Uverse bundled with DirecTV cable.
AT&T about $30/month (includes $10 off for bundling).
DirecTV about $130 (includes some movie channels).

We dropped our landline quite a few years ago. We had Verizon FiOS for Phone, Cable TV & Internet. Now we just have it for Cable TV and Internet.

We have AT&T for our cell phones. My father-in-law has T-Mobile for his cell.

I've never had a landline... we use AT&T for cell phones (discounted through work) and Comcast for our internet (no cable or satellite TV from anyone).

Splitting hairs here, but if you have AT&T or Verizon Vios for your internet provider, you DO have a landline. You just don't have a phone hooked up, you are using it for data only. I have ATT Uverse, and most of the connection is fiber, but the first link from my house is a good old copper landline.

Thanks for the replies. We have Directv, so I called them. They use AT&T but it is not available in our area. I guess I will check into Verizon Fios. I haven't heard of that before.

I use OOMA. The bill is $4.77 per month. It routes the calls over the internet.

We don't have a landline and haven't had one in years and we use Brighthouse for our internet. We canceled our cable end of last year so only internet. We have 2 cell phones on AT&T

It's going to depend on your area as far as what options are available to you, for instance, Time Warner isn't in my area, neither is Verizon Fios (we'd switch to Verizon if it was an option).

No land line, we have comcast for internet paying about $50 a month. We have magic jack as our house line, it's great! We pay about $30 for the year for it.

We got rid of our landline in 2003 and went with an Internet/cable package through our local cable provider, which was Insight until they were purchased by Time-Warner. We came to despise TWC and switched to AT&T Uverse last fall. Very satisfied Uverse customer.

I use Google Voice and an OBi VoIP Bridge.

The Bridge will run about $40, but since I am using Google Voice, there are no monthly fees. The OBi is fed through your Internet connection and converts to an analog voice line that can be connected to any standard phone.

The only drawback is that it doesn't natively support 911 emergency calling. I believe there is a workaround for that through a third-party that does have a small monthly fee.

It does take a little bit of work to set it all up, but there are good step-by-step instructions on the Internet.

No land line. No home internet. Just use cell unlimited data. Grandfathered via Verizon. Tether to devices. Every month I don't send money to that evil empire called comcast I smile. Hated sending them $175 per month for the triple play. Dropped it June 2013 and will never look back ....

Got rid of the landline and got rid of Verizon landline phone service!

Have Comcast for internet with basic cable.

Use Virgin Mobile cellphones.

Cost of internet, basic cable and 2 cells with 1200 min each, texts and data is $140 a month.

Prior, the cost was approximately $250 a month.

You can dial 911 from any cell phone, even ones not hooked up to service, as long as it is charged, in our area. In our area, 911 gets you our state police, you tell them your city and they patch you right through, no issues for us. During horrible winter storms/tornado.... only cell phones were working anyways. We charged phones in our cars.

I think the issue with cellular 9-1-1 is finding where you are if you can't speak. Yes, the GPS feature gets them very close, but I have heard on the scanners them trying to locate a 9-1-1 caller in an 100 yard radius with 200 apartments. And it can take hours to get a cellular provider to give police or firefighters the name of the owner of the phone.

Having said that, landline number locations are no longer 100% accurate. With phone number portability, and multiple phone providers who may not have up to date records, your phone record may not have your current address if you have moved recently, or if you have your phone billed to another address.
