If you're not happy with your resort can you switch?

I'm still trying to decide what to do about the whole Pop Warner situation. Our first choice of resort is POR, but we hear the cheerleaders will be there the same time. I dont want to rule it out alltogether, so we were thinking of maybe booking if we had the chance to opt out and go somewhere if it is too crazy for us. Has anyone requested a resort change if it's in the same price category and got your request? If so, would this affect your DDP?

I have done it once............but to be honest, your dates matter most. It just depends on the availability on whether or not you'd be allowed to switch.

When are you going? We are staying at POR too and are curious when that group will be there. (We are going in September)

I don't really know. Personally, I have been at All star sports during that time with my family (early december) and during January for a big dance/cheerleading competition. We saw lots of kids, but it was no big deal for us at all. We spend very little time at the hotel. POR is a very big hotel and is very spread out. You may never see them.

I stayed at POR last February when the dance and cheer competiton was going on and truthfully I never noticed a single one!
I think they tend to stay at the values.:goodvibes

We did this last August. My husband has severe allergies and two years in a row was violently ill at the Beach Club (but not at the GF and FQ where we also stayed) so I went to the front desk and asked if we could be switched to the Grand Floridian. After much teasing from the CM about DH's "beachclubitis" he told me to go pack and head over to the GF. We were charged the $50/nt price difference but retained our free dining plan credits. As a matter of fact, we were short a few credits at first, but when they corrected it our account ADDED our meals and snacks instead of taking them away as we used them!! We were just lucky that a room was available and that they were able to retain our free dining plan for us. DH got better quickly and my DD's and I ate like you-know-whats! As long as there is availability somewhere else, it's definitely doable. Have a magical vacation! :wizard:

Thanks, good to know it's possible to switch if we need to. I've done a lot of research on Pop Warner (we will be there the first full week in December), and I hear it's fine in the parks, but can get a little crazy at the resort itself in the food court, or at the pool, or girls cheering outside your door at 6 am:sad2: . We will be spending at least three or four days around the resort so I needed to know we had an out if we needed one :) They mostly stay at the values, but they use POR and POFQ as the overflow hotels...just my luck!

We did this last September at POPc. We had a smokey room - it was coming in through the vents from other rooms in that building. After numerous trips to the front desk to try and get moved, I changed to Carribbean Beach. The only problem was they didnt move our park tickets over or our dining and it took about 5 trips to various guest relation desks and the resort front desk to sort out. I wouldnt like to do that again whilst on a dining plan! the problem may have been because we had 2 rooms at each resort.
