How many of your dining reservations to you add a birthday celebration to? We are going in May and are celebrating my daughters bdays that are in March and April, and my husbands bday that is in May.
I dont expect anything for free by adding a celebration (and Im not sure what adding it actually does) but I figure just for them to get a "happy bday" would be great. I picked different meals for different bdays to celebrate.
What, if anything, do they do when there is a celebration noted on an ADR???
Thanks!

Last fall, we were celebrating my girls b-day and they got cupcakes on their actual b-day and lots of Happy b-day all week.

This year...we all have b-days in June...but can't go until July...so I chose to just not say anything about it, even though it really is to celebrate.

We went for my son's birthday 2 years ago and we were there on the actual day (we were there a whole week). I think we got a cupcake at almost all sit down meals (I know Tusker house breakfast-like we needed it, Boma, and Crystal Palace-on the actual day-I paid extra for the table decoration)

I think I put that it was his bday on the resort reservation, but I only told the CM on the phone to note the bday on the Crystal Palace dining reservation...still got the cupcakes at the other places though...Boma's was the nicest

Oh, and the bonus was that he was turning 3...so we didn't get charged for him at any of the buffets :)

Also, had DS wear birthday ears and got lots of attention with that

Honestly, it depends on the restaurant. Most of them do the cupcakes, some character dining locations will have special certificates or placemats. I know that Crystal Palace decorates the table with Mickey confetti, and certain restaurants like Citrico's do personalized Happy Birthday menus.

DD got a cupcake at more than one TS meal we had. She got three Happy Birthday pins, two placemats at 1900 PF, & a couple of birthday cards signed by the characters. CM's sang Happy Birthday to her at least twice. Confetti & streamers on the table once.

Our wedding anniversary happened to be on the 2nd day of our last trip to WDW... I know DH mentioned this when we booked our resort/tickets (we did this over the phone since we had a PIN.... we each had an anniversary button in our packet when we checked in)

But we did the ADRs ourselves online and I'm pretty sure we didn't mention any special celebrations (I'm not even sure you can do that online)... however, DH and I did receive a few special treats at our TS meals.

When we checked in for our breakfast at CP, the hostess noticed my button and offered congrats... when we were seated at our table, there was Mickey-shaped confetti sprinkled on it, and between 2 seats the confetti was shaped into a heart. :lovestruc

We also got a free cupcake during lunch at 50sPT, and glasses of champagne during our dinner at WCC!

I'm not sure how many dining reservations you have but I let each child pick 1 meal as "their" birthday meal that way they got the individual attention. They got a dessert and a card signed by the characters. It was really nice.

Thats really cute. Thats what I ended up doing...assigning one meal to each person, except myself- my bday isnt until Sept.

For birthdays, anniversies, and other celebrations . . .

1) Acknowledgment is a matter of the CM's own initiative.
2) It also depends upon how much they like you as a guest.
3) CM's can do a lot, or they can do nothing at all.
. . . they are under no obligation to give goodies or even acknowledge, or
. . . they can go way overboard and give lots of gifts to a guest
4) The CM's have a lot of leeway of things to do or not do for you.
5) Have your anniversary-birthday-celebration noted on the ressie and ADR's.
5) Some of the things a CM can do for free are
. . . decorate table with Mickey confetti
. . . best table location
. . . special personalized menu
. . . character-autographed birthday cards
. . . balloons
. . . wine or champagne or Shirley Temples
. . . appetizers
. . . cakes with candles
. . . cupcakes with candles (almost a certainty)
. . . placemats autographed by characters
. . . wine or fruit basket sent to room
. . . flowers sent to room
. . . room upgrades (by Front Desk or Concierge CM's)

6) If there are multiple celebrations for multiple people
. . . do not do separate restaurants
. . . one person may get an enthusiastic CM, and get lots of goodies
. . . one person may get a lazy CM and get nothing
. . . could become major disappointment for one or more people

You get acknowledged during a German version of "Happy Bierthday."

Oh, and just about every CM you walk by, talk to or come within 50 feet of will wish you "Happy Birthday," often by name. And many guests (who may just be CMs visiting the parks, or poorly trained undercover security people ;)) will also greet you!
