I'm not really very afraid of flying. I'll fly without a problem as long as the plane is big enough (I'm not too comfortable with small planes, because of fear of air sickness -- the smaller the plane, the greater the turbulence, the sicker I get). For me, the two parts that make me a little nervous are takeoff (where the fear is that the flight control tower got something wrong and two planes will crash) and landing (fearing that we'll have a blowout or spin out of control or hydroplane or not stop soon enough and crash into a building at the other end of the runway...). Flying itself I enjoy a great deal, as long as I can see out and it's not rough.
Now if I can't see out (I don't necessarily have to have a window seat, but I do have to be able to see out someone else's window), *then* claustrophobia sets in and I start to panic. But as long as I can see out (even if it's nothing but clouds outside) and it's not too turbulent, I'm fine.
