If your heart is in your DREAM ……… a Aug/Sept 2011, NEW - links to dining/trip report

First of all...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

And what amazing news about your trip to Italy. Someday I will go there... all the pictures of real Italian food look fantastic!

Yes, there is life outside the Disney bubble, I suppose. And if it meant travelling to Europe I might consider it, too!

I hope you had/are having a wonderful, magical birthday. Lots of  from all of us!

Happy Birthday, Karin!!!

Hope it's been MAGICAL!!

Wow!!!! Look at Spring in Austria!! Absolutely gorgeous!! Your winter is definitely worth the Spring that follows. Oh, so pretty!

And... ITALY!!! WTG!! Another of my favorites countries, but have not had the pleasure of visiting Lignano. Looks fabulous. Is there anything more delicious than Italian food? Especially Gelato???

Europeans have countries within an easy drive, train or flight the way Americans have States! Some of our states are so different from one another that one might think they were in a foreign country.;) I've been fortunate to visit 42 of our 50 states and each had something unique and remarkable.

Must go back and see the new car!! TWO new cars!! Love both....not a fan of black cars, but otherwise both are fabulous!!! And don't you just love the smell of a new car?!

p.s. I watched every possible moment of the Royal Wedding. Some FB friends and I had a virtual Wedding Tea, all rose by 3:30 a.m., had a English breakfast, then later Tea, scones and clotted cream. It was a lot of fun!

(Sorry I've been MIA for a few months, hope to be back in the swing of things now. Good to be back - Missed everyone.:goodvibes )

Happy Birthday!!!

Those flower pictures are amazing. I've been doing a lot of them lately too. I love flowering trees.

Yay for Italy. My SIL is in France and Italy right now (not sure which exact place today :lmao:) I think she comes home on Thursday. Her brother lives in France, so I gues she made a big trip out of it. I wish I could've went too. LOL!

How exciting for you! I'd love to see Europe, but flying that far is too much for me. :scared1:

Love the spring flowers, our fruit trees aren't blooming much so far.

Happy belated birthday, Karin!

Your garden pictures are just lovely! Love all your flowers and fruit trees!

And a trip to Italy sounds amazing... you're such a tease with those food pics. Can't wait to see what you and Tom cook up while you're there!

Karin, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I missed your birthday. I hope you had a magical one.

Love the idea of getting away for a weekend and glad you and Tom are doing it.

Happy Belated Birthday Karin!

Italy!!!!! I'm so jealous! I LOOOVE it there! I haven't been to Lignano, but the whole country was just amazing. You're so lucky to live in Europe and be able to visit different countries on a weekend trip!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARIN!!!!!

What is this talk of a world outside of Disney??? Haha, I know what you mean1 I've been going on smaller trips to satiate my travel bug till I get to go back to the World.

Haha, it IS funny that you used to HATE going there but are returning of your own free will! I can't wait to hear about it. The weather here has finally warmed up, but I'm still waiting on perfect beach weather.

Happy belated Birthday Karin! Love the cars you got! Very nice. The pics of your garden were beautiful. I have some blooming too, but haven't gotten to enjoy them for all the rain we are getting. We are finally getting warm temps and our AC for the house isn't working. Good thing Mick is a AC tech. He will get it going soon. Sounds like you have a great getaway planned. We were thinking of going somewhere for the weekend, but nowhere near as exciting. Ohio has a few nice places to visit for a weekend.

Happy Belated Birthday :bday: Hope you had a lovely day :)

Yay for your non Disney trip and to Italy too :) Hope you have a wonderful time :)

Karin, Well better late than never HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! How exciting a quick trip to Italy!!! Hope you and Tom have a wonderful time and PLEASE take lots of pictures!!!! Elaine

Happy belated birthday! And  on the Italy trip. Those pictures are amazing. No wonder you want to think of a trip outside the disney box!

Sounds fun! Is that near Venice? If it is I am pretty sure that I stayed there for two nights when I toured Venice back in high school. I don't remember the name of the city we stayed but I do remember it was a beach resort.

I just checked the weather for the weekend and it should be sunny and nice! :woohoo:
Lignano is about a 2 hour drive from Venice, so I am not sure you stayed there, but there are LOADS of beach resorts around the area.

First of all...

Thank you for your birthday wishes! :goodvibes

You would love Italy. It's only about a 5 hour drive to our destination and we should be able to make it there easily, if we start right after work on Friday. Guess we will even make it for dinner - mmmmh, Pizza!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday, Karin!!!

We were really lucky with our weather in the spring this year. Once the LOONG winter was over it changed to real nice.

We went to Italy a lot when we were kids, since it was easy to drive to. But we haven't been in a long time, so I am really looking forward to our trip at the weekend.
With Austria being so much in the heart of Europe it is VERY easy to travel to another country and we have been to nearly all the countries in Europe.
You visited 42 of the US states - WOW! That IS a lot! Lucky girl! ;) :thumbsup2

I LOVE the fact that you "celebrated" the British Royal Wedding! My pupils still talk about our party too! ;)

And ........

I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE BACK!!! I do understand that sometimes there are things in life that keep us from these boards, but hopefully not for long!

Welcome back!

Happy Birthday!!!

I was inspired to post my flower photos, by the ones you posted! :goodvibes

I am getting real excited for our short trip this weekend - I promise to take lots of photos to share with you all! :thumbsup2

How exciting for you! I'd love to see Europe, but flying that far is too much for me. :scared1:

Love the spring flowers, our fruit trees aren't blooming much so far.

Europe is beautiful, believe me! And, if you don't fly - may I suggest a transatlantic trip on one of the beautiful Disney ships one day? ;)

Happy belated birthday, Karin!

Your garden pictures are just lovely! Love all your flowers and fruit trees!

Thank you!

Our garden has changed a lot from the photos I posted. Tom had to mow the lawn twice in the meantime!

We are both so looking forward to our Italy weekend. I hope to take LOTS of interesting photos (some of them definitely will be of food) for all of you! ;)

Sooo Sorry for being late !!!But Happy belated Birthday!!!:banana::banana:

Thank you, Rosie!

Welcome back!

Aw, you are so sweet!!! Thank you - nice to be missed.:thumbsup2 Of course, I no more than got back and caught up, when our little 15 yr old Maltese was admitted to ICU. She is home now, a week tomorrow. Had a rough 24 hours, but think it was a reaction to the antibiotic - which she is now off, so fingers crossed. :goodvibes

I am SO excited for your Italy weekend!!! I want you to go so we can hear and SEE all about the trip - BUT - do not want your weekend to go by too fast for you & Tom. :goodvibes

Sure wish you could travel in December, but I know it has to be around your academic calendar - Rosie and I are going to celebrate BIG birthday's in 2012 and we're going in Dec so she can see all the Decorations. ::yes:: :yay:

Karin Can't wait for the pix of Italy!!! YES Christine and I are planning a 65th Birthday Trip next year!!!:banana:

Can't wait for the Italy Pix !!!!

Not much longer, Rosie! We are leaving tomorrow after work. Bags are packed, Tom has prepared an icebox to take along and we are all set to leave around 3pm tomorrow. We should arrive in Italy at around 8pm!
Unfortunately we won't have internet, so you will have to wait until Monday when we are back! ;)

Karin, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I missed your birthday. I hope you had a magical one.

Love the idea of getting away for a weekend and glad you and Tom are doing it.

Don't worry about being late, Kathy, you were perfectly on time! I had a nice time, considering that I had to go to work and had enrolled in yet another course in the afternoon! :lmao:

I can't wait for another get away. We went to Passau, Germany last weekend with the catsitters. It was just a short trip, so I am looking forward to two full days of vacation! :thumbsup2

Happy Belated Birthday Karin!

Italy!!!!! I'm so jealous! I LOOOVE it there! I haven't been to Lignano, but the whole country was just amazing. You're so lucky to live in Europe and be able to visit different countries on a weekend trip!

Thank you, Abby!

Yes, Italy is nice and we are both really looking forward to our weekend trip - in a few hours we are going to leave! :woohoo:
I envy you Americans too! ;) You can drive wherever you want and there are so many interesting states, all within easy reach! :goodvibes

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARIN!!!!!

Thank you, Yuki!

We don't usually do weekend trips, but with the new cars we wanted to "try out a new style of travel".

We have wonderful weather here at the moment and I think the weather should be nice in Italy too! Can't wait. :thumbsup2
