Karin,
What a beautiful building your school is housed in, that must be a wonderful school to attend as well as teach in.Very impressed, the entire building is so visually stimualting I love it!
Karin,
Nice job!!! that cake looks so YUMMMYYY.
I think it was best you did not attempt wrapping the ship,![]()
It would have looked awkward![]()
Thank you!
The artwork was done by pupils. We have a "project week" the last week of school and pupils sign up for all sorts of projects (I usually do silk painting). One year one of the projects was to "decorate the outside of our school" They even did the "netting" (sunsails) in the inner courtyard!
Pupils at our school are between 10 and 14 and we teach all of them. You usually will start with the 10 year olds and stick with them until they leave.
No I have not heard of the organization you talked about. But I will definitely look it up! Learning and practicing a language in the "original country" is such a wonderful thing. I hope your daughter gets to do it! I am sure she would LOVE studying in Germany or maybe she could even make it to Austria! Wouldn't you have to visit her if she went to Europe?![]()
I remember you mentioned that you lived in Europe for a while. You have to come back and see what's changed!
And you have to come and see DLRP - they definitely have the most beautiful of all the Disney Castles. And things ARE a bit different in the parks as well.
Just this morning I saw a few photos of the FF Wine dinner on the Food Photo thread and it looks AMAZING!!! Now we need to decide WHEN we are going to do this! I really really want to try it.
As for the car - thanks for the recommendation of the VW, but if there is one car we no longer buy than it is a German one! FAR too expensive, you pay extra for everything and we both have had one and were NOT impressed - especially when it comes to service.
For the last few years we both have had a Nissan and that is what we are leaning towards. I like the new Chevy Cruize and Tom is interested in a Renault as well, we'll see what comes our way. We will go and have a look at different models during my Easter vacation in 3 weeks. Tom has until September to get his new car, so we are on the safe side, taking our time looking.
Maybe I should have put those photos up earlier - you might have changed your wedding venue!![]()

Thanks so much for the pictures and information! It's so interesting to compare the schools. The artwork is beautiful and so neat that the kids are apart of the artwork and beauty of their school.
So does your school have different teachers for different subjects (history, math, etc.) or does one teacher teach all subjects to the different classes? I'm an elementary school teacher so I get to teach all the subjects to my class.
Sorry I'm late, but Happy Birthday to Tom!
What a cute cake!
Yes, the DLRP castle is really unique! I read they did that because Europeans are used to seeing REAL castles that the DLRP one had to look really different.
I have driven a few Nissans and like what I've experienced so far. They probably have some neat little hatchbacks in sale in Europe they don't have here!
Personally, I hate American made cars and would never buy one! I don't think they are very reliable and the quality is really shoddy.
I'm a Volvo girl myself, but my next car won't be a Volvo unless they start making a more fuel efficient model. I've seen little Volvo hatchbacks in Europe so maybe you have more models to choose from there?
Yes, those German cars can be expensive. My aunt has a Bug and loves it. She says its great 99% of time, but that when it need maintenance or repair it's really expensive.
Show us pictures when the purchase happens! Happy car hunting!
Happy early birthday, Tom!I cannot possibly hope to return the photo cake gift, though.

Belated birthday wishes to Tom! What an incredible lunch feast and what a cake! What type/flavor is the cake? I am on a carb counting dirt and am enjoying your meal mentally.![]()
You are right - our lunch was a real feast - soooo good!
That is a "Wachauertorte". It's a very light nut and chocolate cake filled with apricot jam and chocolate buttercream. There is more jam and chocolate buttercream on top. We really enjoy it .... there is still some left!![]()
OHH I am so sorry I am late but Happy Birthday! I look forward to wishing you a belated birthday in person in August!![]()
Karin please tell Tom happy belated birthday from Mick and I. Your pictures of Austria are beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing. We have to get a new car some time this year too. My car is 11 years old and looking very tired. Mick put the window done one day and it got stuck! Thank goodness he got it back up, too cold to ride around with the window down.We are looking at maybe getting a Hyundai Sonata. I want a red car and Mick wants blue.
A Happy belated Birthday to Tom!
Your pictures of Austria are beautiful, I didn't realize how gorgeous it really is. I sure would like to eat at that restaurant! Also would like a slice of that cake!
My car is 10 years old & still in great shape, it is a Pontiac Firebird which is akin to the Camaro. As to American cars they have improved greatly in the past few years. The Lincoln was judged the best car of all for reliabilty for this year. I just had to defend American cars.![]()
It sounds wonderful! I love apricot and chocolate buttercream.![]()
Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm so late to wish Tom and happy birthday!
What a wonderful meal you had! I tried white truffle oil for the first time when I visited Montreal and it was DIVINE. Andrew wants to buy a bottle.
You school is so cute! So different than the schools we have over here.
