If you were spending $5000 on a Disney vacation...

I would stay at GF for 7 nights and eat whatever in the heck I wanted to. :) I would go in September.

This trip is going to be a little above that but we are bringing my parents staying at Pop with the dining plan/ That doesn't even include our tickets - we have AP's (we booked the package with a 1 day base ticket for the dining package) then going to Universal for 3 days staying at the Royal Pacific club level.

I love Disney World, but for me it wouldn't happen.. There's nothing there - hotels, food, souveniers or park tickets - that I feel is worth spending $5000 on..

As much as I love WDW, there is only one way I would ever consider spending anywhere close to 5K for a WDW vacation. That will be when DW and I go without kids (maybe two years from now, maybe longer). For our family of four we usually spend 1300 or so for 5-6 nite trips, staying at value resort. That works real well for us.

For the aforementioned fantasy trip, we'll probably fly instead of drive, do 5 nites at GF, eat at least one sit-down meal per day, do a Wishes cruise, and a tour or two. That oughta get us up close to 5K.

Add more points onto my DVC so I could take 4 trips instead of 3 trips per year. :thumbsup2

We spent $5000 on our Disney cruise for a family of 3 plus infant. Would I do it again??

NO!!!! It was so not worth it!

$5,000 doesn't go far for many Disney folk :) We're DVC members - even with that we'll easily clear $5000 on this vacation. Airfare for 5 - $877 Tickets for 4 - $874. Rental car $335 Wishes cruise $250(? can't remember) That's $2300+ not even counting food or souveniers. We do two sit down meals a day with a counter service for lunch and my DH spends way too much money on "crap" - lol!

The only thing putting a cramp on my vacation is time.... so if I were to change anything it would be to go for 2 weeks instead of one :) Can't let my oldest miss too much school so one week it is for now :)

How would you spend it? What time of year would you go? Where would you eat? How long would you stay?

Well now this is my family's (me,hubby, and 2 dd ages 15 and 9) first time to disney and i already spent more than 5,000.00 We are going this March.... staying at the animal kingdom lodge..... i already paid for airfare..... paid for an upgrade to the concierge level to go on the sunrise tour for our last night of stay, chef mickey and horseback riding and im thinking since this is the first and only trip for us im thinking souvies and food will cost about 1500.00 so the whole package its about 6,300.00 ..... wow it is alot when you add it all up..... vicki

i would spend one week at the grand floridian, going to each park from morning to night at least once, make at least 2 ressies per park, 3 resort ressies, 3 tours, and go to the spa and do something with a boat on the seven seas lagoon

i think i may have gone over the $5000 mark lol

:cool1: :goodvibes :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I would stay at the Pop Century as long as I could for my family of 4 with the dining plan. I'm guessing that would be as many as 10+ days. I would LOVE that!!!

We're paying just under $5000 for two adults, 9 days at CSR with the Premium Package that includes:
3 TS meals per day, (we have ADR's at Boma for breakfast and dinner, Ohana, LeCellier, Marakish, Rose and Crown, Aloha Breakfast at the Poly, Crystal Palace, Wolfgang Puck, Coral Reef, Hoop-D-Doo and Brown Derby)

Cirque La Nouba

9 day park hopper tickets

Preferred Viewing for Wishes and Illiuminations

Lots of Tours

Parasailing, golf and other recreation.

In addition, we have reservations for Victoria and Alberts and are doing the Segway around the world tour at Epcot, which wasn't included in the Premium Package.

It's very expensive, but also very fun! :bounce:

My airfare alone last nov was $2225 for 5 of us!! add 5 nites at the poly dis dining etc-close to $7k. That was before jet blue came to town. :furious: we still had fun!

We would stay at the Grand Flo, castle/lagoon view, for 15 days. We would eat at Victoria & Albert's, Narcoosee's, Le Cellier, Cali Grill, and a few others during a Christmastime trip. We would take full advantage of Extra Magic Hours at night and see all of the parks including Pleasure Island and Typhoon Lagoon. It would be spectacular! :)

DD and I would sure live it up. None of our tirps have cost over $1500 which includes hotel, tickets, dining plan and airfare. I guess we would book a deluxe and stay a few more days or invite someone to join us.

Our Christmas trip in 04 was at least double. We were at the AKL for 2 weeks with 2 rooms. Yikes!! Plus AP's, airfare, food, souveniers. Its a lot of money to go to Disney.

Wow .. we are going in May/June for 8 nights and 9 days .. its costing us around $4500.. this includes the hotel/tickets/dining plan, airfare and a little for souvenirs..

I'd never spend that at Disney, but if I won it and the rules said it all had to be spent at Disney, I'd stay in Florida longer, and I'd get a room for 10 days with my AP rate ($49 at POP) and 10 days with hubbys AP. That's $1100. Then I'd bring my kids (2 more rooms) for a total of 3300. I'd grab a SW rate, assuming that comes out of the $5000 for $49 each way, that would be another $936, and we'd have about $800 left for food. Opps..not enough, sorry kids you can only come for 10 days..so I'd have 1900 for food and tickets for those who don't have AP's. We won't do the parks every day..some days we'll swim, so we won't need a lot of tickets..and we eat pretty cheap!

Well, we're going to end up spending about $3800, not including souveniers and tickets to the MNSSHP, in October...and that's staying in a value. Luckily, we'll have a good deal of Disney reward dollars to use on our souveniers.

We have 4 kids, so we require 2 rooms. 3 of us are driving down early, to visit relatives. The other three will fly (and pay top dollar to insure seats together..dh doesn't want to mess with coordinating chance seats on SW). We'll all drive back together. Probably 3 hotel stays for the to/from drive. Approx. $1000

2 rooms at ASMo with dining plan for 6 nights, and Hopper tickets for all of us for 7 days...approx. $2800

So..if I had the extra thousand, I'd stick with the value rooms and stay a couple more days, although not an option while kids are in school...but I can dream.

I think I'd go in late September/early October.
