If you were planning to take a train from Seattle to Vancouver, then ferry over to Victoria...

Yeah...you might actually want to check the clipper NOW. Because if the train is sold out, I'd be concerned about the clipper. You might have to do blackball or take a bus.

Thoughts...

• Celebrate! Vancouver is a great port to be stuck without a boat or plane.
• if the Vancouver to Seattle segment is sold out.... Amtrak and Bolt bus have several buses to get you to Seattle.
• find out when they open ticket sales..... I hear the Western facing windows seats are the first to go for the views. What time do you need to show up?

That's not realistic... The Amtrak train does not go from the airport to the Clipper ferry terminal.

• You will use light rail, bus or taxi to the Clipper ferry terminal
• ride the Clipper to Victoria
• ride BC Ferry or the Prince of Whales to Vancouver
• go on your cruise
• return to Seattle via Amtrak

To clarify.... is the plan to ride the May 21st ferry to Vancouver??? That's a long weekend! Be prepared for crowds on the ferry Sunday afternoon.

Don't think you have enough days for Vancouver.

We weren't planning on taking Amtrak from the airport. We're going to spend the day in Seattle, using Lyft, and head to Canada the next day. Looks like it may be the Clipper instead of the train at this point. But I'm gonna see what blackball is. And look for Clipper coupons online.

We'll ferry from Victoria to Vancouver on Sunday.

We'll fly home from Vancouver.

Blackball is another ferry line. We used it when we lived in Bremmerton, Washington to get to Victoria. The challenge with Blackball is that it leaves out of Port Angeles (which is on the Straight of Juan de Fuca)...and no where near Seattle.

Blackball is $64 for the one way and Clipper is $109. Both have availability on May 19, but whatever you decide, you should get on it...

You could take the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and then Uber up for $124-$165. If there are 4 people in your party, you will break even/save money by going via Blackball, but that is a lot of extra effort that in my opinion is not worth it.

So you can take a bus from SeaTac (https://olympicbuslines.com/schedule/) to Port Angeles. In Port Angeles you can hop on the blackball coho ferry to Victoria which goes straight to Victoria harbor like the Clipper.

Basically it's a more roundabout way to get there if the clipper is sold out.

Difference is: coho takes longer, is (probably) less expensive, and allows vehicles. (The last is a big one for locals, not for you, I realize, I'm just noting that. Clipper is walk on passenger only.).

I'd heard that there was another way to get to PA via bainbridge this year, but maybe it's not until this summer because I can't find a solid start date.

And then there's still another way to get to PA via local buses but lots of transfers, you have to be a masochist to do it. I spent a lot of time navigating transit my first year out here because it was a fun challenge. And having transit at all was a novelty

Yep, had just figured it out when you posted, bumbershoot. Vehicle+driver is 64.

Adult walk on is 18.50, kid is 9.25. But bus is 50 for adults and 25 for kids.
Clipper adult 109, kid 54.

bus to port angeles is a lot more expensive than I remember, so Clipper would probably still be first pick

Bleh! If I could avoid dealing with any traffic (aka buses, cars, etc to Port Angeles) I would (but that's just me!! I hate that drive over to Port Angeles (again, lived here too long), although the Olympic Mountains are beautiful that time of year! I would rather spend a little more and have more time in Victoria.

FYI: Distance to Port Angeles from Seattle is ~140 miles (unless you take a ferry to Bainbridge Island)

Oops. You are right! I was working too quickly. That would be a great deal then. I feel like we paid about $130 round trip for two people when we went years ago, so the last minute price of $64 didn't cause me to stop and check.
