In other words, if money weren't a factor.....

Would you join a pre-made food plan like Jenny Craig or ediets meals sent to your home?

I think I would hire a personal trainer to come to my home 4 times per week and would have Jenny Craig for free, although a personal chef would be great too!

I'd have one of the celebrity personal trainers work out with me 5 days a week and I'd hire a live in nutritionist/chef. LOL... I dream big! :cloud9:

I'd definitely hire a chef, nutritionist, and personal trainer. Only if I could afford it now! lol

Given the choice between a personal chef who would prepare all of my meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients that fit my nutritional goals, and prepackaged diet food, who wouldn't choose the chef? :rotfl:

I do all right with food, so assuming the personal chef is off the table, I wouldn't buy prepackaged food. One of my internet buddies has a local service where she gets freshly-made food delivered to her weekly, and that wouldn't be a bad compromise, but I suspect I'd honestly prefer my own cooking.

Assuming that "magic elves come and build you a fully-equipped gym with live-in trainer in the backyard" is off the table, and have to live with the space limitations of my house, my second choice would be http://www.exerciseequipmentexpert.com/home-gyms/bodylastics-resistance-bands.html . I've got the chance for some bonus money coming in April, and I've got some splurge money earmarked for that. Personal trainer coming to my house wouldn't work well - we have too many people and not enough space as is. I've contemplated gym memberships, but even after getting into the habit of regular exercise, I would not drive 6 miles to the closest gym to work out at any of the times I have available before or after work, and when I'm at work, I want to get my work done and go home. So something that I can do at home without a big clunky piece of equipment is ideal.

MIL wants a treadmill. Unfortunately, cheap treadmills are pretty much all junk, and the budget doesn't stretch for the $500+ ones.

Oh, this is a fun thread! Thanks for starting it!

I'd want a deluxe gym in my home, with my own swimming pool -- and a jacuzzi to soak in after exercising!

Florine Marks, the owner of the local WW franchise, has a personal chef who cooks for her in her home. He also does cooking demonstrations at WW meetings. His name is Tim, and he's a hoot! I'm not sure I'd want someone in my home to cook, though -- I'm too private (i.e., shy.) Having gourmet diet food sent in sounds good, though. There's a service in town that will go to local restaurants and pick up food, and some of the local restaurants could cook stuff that would fit my diet (especially if I paid them a little extra!)

Thanks for the link to the Bodylastics site! I'm currently using some other resistance bands and really like them, but Bodylastics looks more versatile.

As for treadmills, you can sometimes find good quality used ones for not much money. Craigslist or the classified ads in the local paper are good; you can also search by location on eBay. I got a decent used treadmill this way, and I hope to find a good used eliptical machine.
