People are fickle including myself.

When that first went up I didn't like it blocking the Great Movie ride and the Theatre. Wasn't that what Hollywood studio's was all about after all.

Now after dozen's of pictures in front of it over the years I'm going to miss that thing!

Can't they move it somewhere else?

It just occurred to me that the last time my parents every went to DHS (DMGM) was in 1998. There was no hat back then. So when they go again in Dec. 2015, nothing will have changed for them.

AoA would be perfect but Disney doesn't have a good track record of keeping things(see Mickey & Minnie's Country Houses).

I think Disney just decided it had "run its course".

It was only intended as a temporary structure originally.

I know my husband, as a former Disney Cast Member at the then-MGM Studios, is very happy to see it go. I'm curious to see how it affects the view of the park, myself.

We didn't start going to Disney until 2009, so the Hat has always been there for our pics. I have seen others on here post pics of what it looked like before the Hat, and honestly I liked the original view without it, but in a way I will still miss it.

What is the plan for the park? I am assuming they are not having the TOT 10 mi race because of construction. So, what are they going to be doing to this park?

Same question. Would love if it were done by 1/26 when we'll be there, but thats seems optimisitic for Disney even if it is only demolition and clean up. Anyone have an educated guess?

Glad we got one last family pic in front of the hat in Nov! Although at first I didn't like it either at DHS, I have grown to like our pics in front of the "BIg Hat". It was also so cute to how when our kids were toddlers they called all the parks by their icons - castle park, big ball, big hat, and tree park....

Woohoo! LONG overdue, IMO. I'm pretty sure its removal is the beginning of the rebranding of the park like what occurred over at DCA. I'm thrilled for the changes and can't wait for the Star Wars addition announcements later this year!

I agree we didn't start going until 2007 (trips when I was a kid don't count as it was only MK and Epcot back then!) - I love the way the 'older' without the hat pictures look and can't wait to actually see it that way myself. I hope they do away with the stage that is there sometimes too.. we'll be down on the 27th!
