If you Rode Forbidden Journey...POST HERE! :) (Spoilers)

OH ok, I see. I am too tired for that tonight, since I have to be up at 4 am to travel home I better try and get some sleep so my I don't get too crabby with the family. Thanks again everyone for all your support. I almost couldnt post tonight because the internet was giving me a hard time, and not working consistantly. Take care everyone. :-)

You too!!

And thank you for being the 1st on the DIS to give us a decent play by play! We all appreciate it. Have a safe trip home.

Anyone else got a play by play? :upsidedow

If you read it right I didnt say today was six hours, it had a posted wait time of 60 mins today and 75 mins yesterday. I just said that the TM told us, that the length of the queue was equal to a six hour wait.

6Hrs total?Better rehink your schedule people this summer about youre Universal HP trip and take this into factor.

The only reason I'm saying this is cuase this is'nt even a soft opening.Come the 18'th of June I think 6hrs is gonna be the norm...

Thank you rjvose17 for the most excellent review so far...

I'm curious if the part with Dumbledore and then with Hermoine, Ron and Harry are set "holding areas/rooms" like the room you go in on Rock N' Roll Rollercoaster and see Aerosmith in the recording studio just before entering the area where you get in the limos...or is it just a regular part of the line? Maybe an odd question, but I was wondering if the line slowed or stopped if you could be standing there watching those sequences over and over?

Hope they work out all the problems with it soon!!!

It would totally suck vomit beans if it keeps breaking down everyday through summer. :crazy2:

Thank you so much for the awesome review...I was hoping someone would elaborate on the spiders , my DS is NOT going to be happy about them and I am able to warn him now, that yes, they get very close but do not touch you! (If I have that wrong, please correct me)
Have a safe return trip and enjoy the memories!

I was thinking the exact same thing!

From what I read online it might be part of the regular que. I read that the lucky few that actually rode the ride had to skip these parts because the lines were moving pretty fast, obviously they got there first. My guess is that since it's a constantly moving vehicle (like Haunted Mansion) there's probably no show rooms. So if the ride stalls, then yes, I guess things will eventually repeat themselves.

Wishing it a long life at UO with very few breakdowns. :wizard:

FinFan, Im pretty sure she said the spiders get close but dont touch you BUT that they spit at you????
My 21 yr old son will freak on that one,lol....he is not a fan of spiders...and he would be mad that I posted this but oh well....

Everything I have read about USF Harry Potter has been pretty depressing.

These families buy airfare, expensive Universal Studios hotel stays, and a pay extra for a special Harry Potter package and then after spending all that money they get there to be told it's open only 8 AM - 10 AM (only 2 hours) and by the way the only new attraction the first day was down and the second day was running for just 20 minutes from reports.

USF is now doing "castle tours" So these people paid extra and traveled to FL to literally tour a que line. I would be irate if I dragged my family to this park two days in a row to stand in a que line both days for a non working ride and then have the entire area close and be told I hope I enjoyed my “castle tour”.
Actually the queue is supposed to be amazing itself. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it.

Preview time is when the kinks are worked out which is exactly what is happening now. I feel bad for those who don't get to ride but they should expect possible delays and misfires in the beginning.

I'm wondering how long the queue is if you're talking about six hours!

I've set aside three days for Universal but it looks like one might be only for Harry Potter....

Hey, thanks for the report! Here's some questions:

~How much is video screen versus real? Can you tell the difference?

~Were the Dementors audio-animatronics, or holograms?

~JW

Here's what I've pieced together from reports (mostly from TMs or their friends) who have answered these questions on this and other boards.

.

You can't wear flip flops on this ride, but unlike DD/DC it's harder to "sit on them". There was a rumor about the ride TMs rubber banding them to your feet, but no confirmation.

.

what about crocs?

Both Dumbledore and the Trio are on continuous loops. However, I did notice on both the Inside the Magic video: http://www.**************.net/2010/...rbidden-journey-queue-in-the-wizarding-world/ And the Orlando Atractions video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvG4MKnp9zw that there's more than one spiel (at least two each, both saying things in a slightly different way, and there may be more than two). So they were obviously thinking that you might get stuck there a while. The Fat Lady also had at least two different speeches. And there are also various portraits that have their own spiels that loop continually. But there are no doors that seperate rooms in those videos and you can often hear the audio for one room while you are in another.

I guess that would depend on if you can keep them on your feet or not. If a shoe drops on this kind of state of the art ride, it will force stop the ride. It's not like roller coasters where a shoe may drop onto the ground below or whatever, not really affecting the ride's ability to continue. If something falls onto the tracks or into the kuka itself, it could cause serious damage, and at the very least once recognized by sensors will stop the ride. (I wouldn't be surprised to learn this is why the ride keeps breaking down so quickly - probably someones sunglasses falling off their heads and onto the track)

So my suggestion would be, wear shoes with backs, straps, whatever, or plan to rubber band them to your feet.

Does anyone know whether there is/will be a FOTL access for on site guests? We are planning on going Easter 2011 and were going to stay on Universal property purely for this reason.............does anyone know if there will be any restricions as to how often you could ride FJ on FOTL pass?
Thanks!
Debsxx:goodvibes

Our first day there will be 23rd (offsite). I hope by getting there before rope drop (like at 8am; we already have our tickets with us) and running to FJ (although we need to use a locker) the line won't already be longer than around 60-90 mins! Fingers crossed anyway :)

I wonder if the queue will also lighten up as the evening closes in? As we'll be there until the 10pm closing.

The answer to your question is yes and no, it's not just one room that there is a screen like on RnR. There are screens in Dumbledores office, the Defense of the Dark Arts room, and in the corodors that where all the "talking" paintings are. These are parts of the queue, so as you walk through the castle you come into different rooms. The queue is really long, that was the first thing my husband said to me as we walked through. You also see statues of the Phoenix, the fat lady is singing in the painting, the sorting hat, etc. The queue itself is amazing and even if you don't ride there is a exit so you can enjoy the castle. I only wished there was more to explore. Yes, the lines slowed a little while going through the rooms not so much to listen, but more for pics. I honestly can't remember exactly what they were saying. I do however remember bits of ron, harry and hermione talking about what teacher was interesting and who's class was boring. I was sad to not see snape, or Prof. Mcg.

rjvose17, do you know what the wait times were when you managed to get through quickly? I'm curious as to whether they put 5min base time or whether they put a realistic base time (including the time to walk through the queue and watch the scenes)

Thanks for the detailed report! So to get this straight, it doesn't go upside down?

NO it doesn't at anypoint actually put you upside down, HOWEVER you are flat on your back looking straight up at a few points. I was so busy looking around you can see you are fairly high up in the air, I was trying to look at the arm vehicles without missing any time on the ride and could kinda see the track and the vehicle ahead of me. You won't see them unless you are looking for them. Also nothing actually touches you, but do get VERY close and YES the spiders spit at you at least twice, and the steam from the dragon is very hot.

Nope your right, they don't touch you but are really close, and they do spit at you at least twice that I noticed.
