If you Rode Forbidden Journey...POST HERE! :) (Spoilers)

correct, that's not even a proper youtube link

someone is messing with you

Yes indeed, what would be the reason to pull it? There are tons of ride videos on youtube, no copyright violation because someone took it themselves. Even if they did find it, it takes quite some time to file a protest and get something pulled and that's only if you have music in it that's copyright, then they just mute it.

Ok, today was my second attempt at FJ. I went yesterday but didn't make it on before it got shut down. HOWEVER I GOT ON TODAY!! Got to the park at 6:45 am this morning, and got on the ride about 8:10 am. I will try to be as detailed as possible. It's all very overwhelming and i am not the best writer.

Once you enter Hogwarts to your right there are "free" lockers. They are free for three hours ( I think, don't quote me on that one) You aren't supposed to take loose items. However today, being much smarter than yesterday I brought my smaller digital camera and stuffed other things like tickets, and id's into my bra! A lot has been leaked already about the queue, so I dont think I need detail for that, however I will say it's beautiful and it's almost as impressive as the whole place itself.

The ride seat is like a rollercoaster seat, like on hulk it has a harness that pulls down. The tell you to keep your elbows in and feet down as much as you can. (I want to say even dumbledore at some point tells you that too, so it must have been a issue) Oh and while you are boarding your on a constantly moving conveyor belt like at Haunted Mansion, so it's continual, and its full of mirrors and candles like the great hall :-).

To start the TM's tell you to enjoy the quiddich match, and you see a screen with Hermione bowing green dust(smoke) on you and you take off. It's almost to fast to understand what Ron, Harry or Hermione were saying, plus I was trying to concentrate on the details of the ride. If you look over you can see other ride vehicles, but only if your looking. The arm takes you over and around through a fire breathing dragon. They blow hot steam that lights up red out of a large dragon head right in your face. I actually had to close my eyes, it was a little much. Then your whisked through both virtual, and "real" parts just like in Spiderman, some of it is screen work, and some are actual animatronics. The dragon and the dementors, and spiders are all animatronics for example, but obviously the "characters" are screen. You DO NOT wear three d classes. It's like simpsons in that sense. You go in to the forbidden forest and get sprayed in the face by several large and small spiders that come very close to you but don't touch you. You also almost get whipped by the tree that has moving branches outside the shreking shack (im having a brain cramp on the tree's name) You enter a Quiddich match with Malfoy and Harry, which is screen and three dish. Dementors are popping up everywhere and I think that they tell you to tuck in your elbows and feet because if I wanted to I could touch them, they get really close. It actually scared me a little. I wouldn't take younger children on it even if they met the height requirement. You see several large bones of snakes and such that have colored steam coming out of them, you enter a large mouth that looks like a skull and once your surrounded by dementors harry comes along and does "Expecto Protonum" (sp?) to save you. Once you make it through you are back at Hogwarts being greeted by screens of students and Dumbledore. I don't remember seeing Snape or anyone, which personally disapoints. You see Hagrid in the beginning of the ride telling you about the Dragon that is loose. I almost forgot sorry.

They take your picture on the ride, I bought mine just so I had proof of riding and you could only buy it in package form, 39.00 was the cheapest package after tax. I got 1 8X10 and 2 5X7's. The seats are not that bad, they do tell people to check themselves because they are tight, but im on the bigger side with a fairly large chest and fit just fine. You do go up and are at a few points completly on your back almost backwards, however you don't at any time go compeltly upsidedown. There is a lot of spining and moving in all sorts of directions. It's not for the easily motion sick. I don't like the tea cups but I've done every roller coaster and 3d ride in orlando at the major theme parks and they dont bother me, this did NOT bother me. I was impressed much more than I though I was going to be, and was pleasently suprised with the thrill. It might not be overly new technology but it was a spiderman X 10, and I consider spiderman to be one of the best rides that Universal has to offer. I dont think it will disapoint, I think it's going to make both thrill seekers and HP fans rejoice. I went in as a pessimist and came out a optomist. I hope this helps anyone that wants a little info about the ride. There are plently of other posts about the shops and things. My biggest complaint about the area is the size, it's very small, and after about 30 mins today the queue for FJ was all the way into the streets of Hogsmead! Upon speaking with a TM, they told me from the gates of Hogwarts to the ride vehicle, it's a six hour wait. I don't know, but even as much as I love Harry, Nothing is worth a six hour wait for me. The shops are wicked small, and are going to be very very cramped, and I would have liked to see a better range of merchandise, as a 28 yr old woman, I didnt find much to wear, or really for my husband for that matter. I did buy my 6 yr old a shirt, and the kid selections are cute. Enjoy and I hope I helped out, any other questions, just ask ! :cool1:

Thank you so much!! That sounds bloody brilliant (as Ron would say). My only questions is what other ride would you compare the intensity to? I've heard it is a pretty intense ride. Is it as intense as the Hulk? Space Mt?

What time did they let you into the park? Was it at all before 8? What time did people start lining up? We were hoping not to have to get there too early but it sounds like we might have to!

rjvose you are my hero, thank you

I do have some questions. Nobody has mentioned the Chamber of Secrets or Chess board that were part of the leaked ride design. Now I happen to know for a fact that the Chamber was built. 100% Did you go thru it?

thanks for the details, anyone heard the height limit yet (on the tall side)?

Thank you so much for the review. Was there no Chamber of Secrets part? We saw stone snake heads in some construction pics but haven't heard anyone speak of them.

I wouldn't take younger children on it even if they met the height requirement.

Knowing all kids are different, in general what would you say would be a good minimum age?

Thanks for the great review! :)

Thank You RJVOSE !

You are "trully" the first person to give a decent account of this ride, the sole purpose of this thread. So again Thank You, because finally someone has used more than 3 lines to describe the ride and understands how to write a decent description. Kudos !

Thank you RJVOSE....finally we have a description and a good one at that. You said you are bigger on top and you fit ok? I too am big on top and it always keeps the over the shoulder harness from coming down much, so Ive been worried.....

Ok, if the TM was correct, then you're saying it was over six hour wait at a preview??? How is that going to work with the general public? I mean, resort guests get in an hour early so does that mean that if I visit the park and get it at the 9am rope drop that there's already going to be a six+ hour wait for a ride just from resort guests alone? If that's the case, then it doesn't sound like that ride has a very large capacity at all. I can remember when Spiderman had 4 hour waits, but I was always able to get on within ten minutes if I got there at 9am rope drop...and that was with the resort guests having been there for early entry.

Anyone else find this strange? I'm going in September during my Disney trip, but not being a resort guest, will get in at 9am. Sounds like this ride may be a complete write-off.....

On a regular day though, IoA crowds will be spread throughout the park and throughout the day. People will be able to ride FJ not just for a two hour period, so everybody won't be rushing there at the same time. If Spiderman had 4 hour waits, 6 hours doesn't sound that absurd for such an anticipated attraction. I think going right at rope drop you should still be OK, especially in September.

I am betting that the wait today wasn't six hours, i am guessing that most of the twisty parts of the line were roped off? Just a guess that is what rides usually do so you dont have to walk around every twist and turn just to get to the front of the line. I bet the tm was saying they have enough que area for a six hour wait if all open:confused3

Thanks everyone for the praises, you are making me blush :-)! Yes, there is a chamber of secrets, I guess, there are large snake heads, and bones, but like I said it was kinda fast and dark so it was hard to tell exactly where I was at all times. I was trying to soak it all in knowing I wouldn't get a second ride.

As for the height, I think it's 48 inches. I am a mother of two, both NOT tall enough to ride ages 6 and 3. I know all kids are different, but I am guessing at a age of around 12 and up probably. There were younger ones on and I didnt hear crying, so I could be wrong. I was a little scared myself, and I dont scare easily. Yes, I think it's very intense in the sense that you dont know where you are, you dont know whats around the corner and you are extremely close to the objects. As far as thrills you can't really compare it to a roller coaster because that to me is a totally different feeling. Compare it to spiderman, when you get shocked or your falling and spidey catches you in the web, but much more. The transitions from screen views to real objects is quick and unexpected so that helps with the intensity.

With the seats I am 5'4, thick(I hate to give my exact weight my husband doesn't even know sorry)but my pants size is 14 womens and have a 38 D chest. So I am by no means the biggest person to ride the ride, but not the smallest either. I fit fine...sometimes my chest gets in the way and have to suck em in, Manta is kinda uncomfortable for me, but this was fine.

I think I got all the questions, any more don't hesitate. Unfortunatly I am leaving for Maine (home) at 4:30 am tomorrow morning, so I won't be posting probably again until after I arrive home. I plan on posting pics, but the internet at our resort is terrible, its very slow. I hope you guys all get a chance to get in, it was awesome. :thumbsup2

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to satiate us fanatics. You have no idea how much we appreciate it!

The posted wait time with the huge line was 60 mintues. I don't think at any point will it actually be six hours, because it is a constantly moving ride, BUT I am just quoting the man that was standing out in front of Three broomsticks in uniform telling us details about the land. I think they only had 2 hours again today, and I was told it was only up for about 45 mins of that, thankfully I ran and was one of the first dozen through the door! The queue is amazingly long, another thing the man was telling us was that they are forseeing the queues for FJ and Hippogriff will probably run in to eachother once the park opens because of expected popularity. It wouldnt surprise me, since the queue was all the way back today and when I went through it, there were NO spots blocked off, but who knows if they changed it. :confused3
