If you live in FL, think about having a wind mitigation done.

We paid $75 for a wind mitigation. We received credits for everything we've done to our home-impact windows, doors, new roof, properly nailing our roof straps to the roof (not quite sure how to accurately describe that.)

We were able to lower our premium that was set to renew in November by over $2,000!!!!

We are actually thinking about moving to Florida next year but we are from the Northeast. Except for last year, we really get minimal back lash from hurricanes. So if we decide to move there you recommend this? Does your home owners refer a company or do you call a company and have someone come out? This is very interesting.

We were required to have one 2 years ago when we went with a new homeowner's insurance company. They are only good for 3 years though so next year we'll have to do it yet again.
