If you have eaten at 1900 Park Fare Character Dinner,

what was your experience?

It has been at the top of my list for our next trip, and a dear friend of mine has been three times and loves it.

But I just read a thread where two people said that it was a bad experience. So I am wondering what the disboard consensus might be....

We've been there for both breakfast and dinner and we had a great time with the characters each time. I thought the food was decent with a nice selection. Definitely no complaints and a place we would re-visit.

To the OP, if the description of the food appeals to you and those are the characters you want to see, I would go regardless of what people say. You're probably going to find a wide range of opinions, both good and bad. And that can be said of just about any of the restaurants.

My goddaughter really wanted to see Cinderella and we didn't want to go to the castle so 1900 Park Faire it was! I'm not a fan of buffets unless it is breakfast food so I did not like the food but the character interaction and my goddaughter's reactions made the whole meal worth it and I'm sure I'd do it again if she asks.

This year it wasn't a prime requirement - everyone in our group gets to pick a dinner and this year she picked Ohanas breakfast. Little did she know we were going to do it anyway!

I thought the character interaction was great and the food was fine. I'm not a big fan of buffets, but everything I had was good. I would definitely do it again.

I agree with PP, you will hear good and bad about each and every restaurant on property. People have different likes/dislikes, restaurants have good/bad nights, etc., etc.

As for our personal experience. I voted "didn't like food, liked characters". I don't expect gourmet food at character meals, but when we were there everyone in our party felt it was below average.

The step-sisters were great! The best part of the whole experience. There isn't anywhere else you can see this mix of characters, and I am glad we went for that reason alone.

We're actually not a big fan of any of the dinner buffets at Disney (we like CP the best). We always seem to like the breakfast ones much better when there is that option.

I think everything is always worth a try. My DD loves every character meal she has ever been to, and that counts for a lot in my book!

We had the breakfast buffet...it was breakfast. It was all hot and cooked well...the strawberry soup was awesome and a nice extra. The characters were great. Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter (was extremely entertaining)..pooh and tigger. The servers were very nice and helpful. My girls were too busy looking around and didn't eat well. When we needed to leave my oldest decided she was still hungry and really wanted her fruit. The server overheard our discussion and brought over several pieces of whole fruit for us to take along. I thought it was the nicest thing for her to do especially since this was a buffet. My girls were thrilled and left with huge smiles on their faces!

I didn't vote as we never had dinner there only Breakfast. We've eaten there twice I thought the food was okay. I didn't like the strawberry soup. It was breakfast so you really can't screw that up. However, both times we were there the character interaction was horrible. I was really disappointed both times. My girls aren't overly aggressive with the characters and both times we sat next to a rude family that would take characters out of turn. I did notice that both times the host does not explain how the character interaction works. That the characters go around the room in order. Since both times the characters got pulled out of order we did not see them. So, we'd be sitting there for 1/2 hour afterwards waiting for one more signature. I really wish Disney would improve on this situation. Everyone pays big bucks for character interaction. I almost went and told the family off last time but my dh said that wouldn't be Disney like. Whatever... next time be prepared for me to steal the character back! LOL...

I didn't vote. I've been there twice with the family and the first year (2 yrs ago) was great. My youngest boy was 2 at the time and he found a yellow carnation on the ground outside the restaurant so he brought it to Cinderella. She doted on him after he gave her the flower and when Prince Charming came around he teased him and said he might have to "throw him in the dungeon" for giving his wife a flower. It was very cute and he still talks about it. The sisters that year were VERY funny and interactive with everyone.

Last year we had to go back according to the kids and the characters were not NEARLY as fun. It was very bland (probably expectations set too high by a great experience).

Both years the food was pretty good. Everyone ate and no one complained and there are a lot of choices.

Well said and totally agree. Some of our favourite meals of our trip were those that earn some rather negative reviews on the Disboards. Go and enjoy, as everyone has different tastes.

We went for dinner on our first trip. the food and character interaction was just fine. We probably won't go back as we were not that impressed with it. Our biggest complaint was that it felt crowded. we had a hard time getting in and out of our seats as the tables were to close together. so going up to the buffet was a lot of work.

We have only eaten dinner there. We didn't like the food. However, the characters especially Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella were hilarious. They really stay true to their character. The only thing I didn't like about the characters were that it took a very, very, very long time for Cinderella to make her way over to our table.

I voted "loved the food, loved the characters" but "liked the food, loved the characters" would be a more accurate description of our experience. My DS14 and DS11 are not into princesses but we had a blast with the stepsisters and stepmother! It was one of the most memorable meals of the trip.

Dinner..The fook was O.K, , but the characters AWESOME! so much we are doing it again this year. The food it was my least favorite buffet we had out of our 10 day trip. Now the breakfast buffet was our favorite we loved the FOOD characters ok! I say do it and try something new.

This was by far our favorite character meal of our last trip. DD got to dance with Cinderella and Prince Charming. We all enjoyed the food, too.

This was my 4yo DD's absolute character experience. We are going back to WDW for her birthday this year and when I asked where she wanted to have her birthday dinner this was her choice. As far as the food goes, it's my husband's favorite buffet.

We ate dinner there year before last. There were a few things I really loved like the chilled strawberry soup. The rolls were hard as rocks. Not much of a selection for my kids. The characters came around but Prince Charming did not seem at ease at all......signed, posed, left no real interaction. Cinderella was a little better but not much. Not really in character like the princesses at Mickey's Toon Town meet & greet. The mice were the most fun. The only way I'd do it again is if I were going on the free dining plan. It was just okay but not great.

I posted other. My niece (13) and I ate here in March.

Although this was the best buffet food we had during the trip, I would classify it as good but not great (I found the buffet in Disneyland much better) but the character interaction was AMAZING! By far one of the funniest and best character meals I have ever had. It was rated the best meal of the trip by my niece and I.

I would highly recommend it and I can't wait to go on my next trip.

My kids thought the characters were ok but I think the interaction really depends on how outgoing people are. For example, the characters really interacted with dd 11 who is super-outgoing but didn't pay too much attention to my other 3 kids who are super shy. We thought it might have to do with the characters not wanting to scare the kids, but there aren't too many 13 year olds who would run away from a character!

I would definitely request a table in the main dining room for the best experience. We were sitting in the small room off to the side and my kids had to leave the table to see Cinderella and Prince Charming do their grand entrance and dance.

The food is fine, nothing to write home about, but good enough that we've gone back more than once. The characters are hilarious, though!
