If you hate packing raise your hand!

My boyfriend wouldn't let me shove, even though we had plenty of space to justify it, I was a mess that entire evening and we finished with 2 min to spare...

Well, then - he can pack it all up next time! Be in the lounge, so you’re unavailable to assist. Maybe he will be a little more appreciative next time...

It is the packing to come home that I do not like. Packing to go can be fun, watching the DW trying on different outfits.

Packing is okay..... I agree with some other posts above - I LOVE unpacking all our things in the stateroom. To get it all out and organized; hanging up and folded and tucked away in the drawers. Then unpacking at home is easy, too - just sort into massive piles in the living room and start doing loads of laundry!

I hate packing -- after decades of travel I have improved, but still fret and stress that I am either taking too much, or making the decision the leave behind things I will need! Unpacking, for me, is a breeze.

But I agree with PP that packing the last day to get the luggage out on time stinks. I really wish that last day were a sea day and not a CC day. We do tend to shove and squeeze and just hope the zippers don't break LOL

It's so much better when you are not flying because you don't have to place any thought process into what is allowed in carry-ons and what isn't!

This is me! I try to be organized. I make a list. I have a plan. And then I go off the rails. My husband says that when I pack it looks like my entire wardrobe has exploded on the bed. He also needs to be told multiple times what to bring, and I sometimes have to redo his suitcase to make more room. That just adds to my dread of packing.

I am a regular business traveler, and I find that packing for those trips are so much easier than vacation packing because I basically wear one outfit all day and bring a set or two of workout clothes.

Our last cruise we did bring clothes for formal night, but my dress was not made of heavy material and rolled up quite well. Since I like to do laundry on the ship (yes, I said it), we normally do not come home with a lot of dirty clothes and can unpack pretty quickly. I also try to wear my bulkiest shoes when I board the ship, but this trip I was wearing a walking boot on one leg so I had to pack the left shoe.

What happens if someone doesn't get their luggage out the night before disembarking, are they on their own to carry/wheel it off?

I hate cruise packing b/c I feel compelled to make sure we have several nights worth of nicer clothes for the dining room in addition to our normal vacation clothes. I really want to go on an Alaskan cruise and the idea of packing for all the various weather conditions and dress up nights is already something I am dreading.

I much prefer to pack for a mid-July trip to WDW ... only one weather condition to prep for (Lava Hot!) and I don’t care if anyone looks “nice” ... I maybe pack matching and/or coordinating shirts for two days so we look “good” for a few photo ops, but that’s about it.

I don't have a problem with packing but I suggest you should consider a packing app which will help keep you organized and might make things easier for you.

Like others I love packing to start and the unpacking in the stateroom (makes it feel like home - cannot fathom not unpacking as some do).

Don't like repacking the last day as reaffirms the vacation over (unless a resort stay after then this is just the start of the above sentence again).

Unpacking at home I don't mind in seeing the FE gifts spread out and for our youngest it is almost like he is receiving them all over again.

We have a great division of labor. I gather everything up and DH has fun folding everything up and fitting it into the suitcase. He truly loves that part.

Now when we get home, it all gets dumped on the floor for at least a week...

What happens if someone doesn't get their luggage out the night before disembarking, are they on their own to carry/wheel it off?

Yes, and it's not fun. We tried that once and will never do it again. It would work fine if you had just a tote/backpack. But if you have suitcases, trying to get an elevator to get you and your luggage down to the main deck is near impossible! Then you stlll have a ways to walk with all the luggage. Doesn't matter spinner wheels or not, it's still a lot to manage in a moving crowd!

As for packing -- packing cubes are the miracle solution to packing. I love them and wouldn't pack any other way. They make it amazing because everything fits together in the suitcase like a jigsaw puzzle -- but they are more amazing on the other end when unpacking. We have one cube for tees, one for shirts to be hung up (use tissue paper between each one and fold in stacks of 3 and no wrinkles!), one undies and socks, one for sleepwear and one for swimwear. We roll the slacks and jeans to fit around the edges. Just unload and throw them on the closet shelves. Done. [Please take note that this wonderfully organized system still does not prevent me from overpacking ;)]

And like a PP poster just said, we divide the labor in that my DH and DD give me all their belongings and clothes, and I spread them around among the suitcases (in case one gets lost) and balance out the weight.
