if you had to skip one park???

Animal Kingdom is a big yawner, in my opinion anyway. And, I swear, when you go in the summer, it is like 20 degrees HOTTER in that park!

OMG! Im not the only one!!!!!! DBF always thinks i am crazy , but we are not! :lmao: lol. It is SO much hotter there! And as for the OP, yes, i would skip AK. DBF and I just got back yesterday, and it only took us about 4 hours to cover the whole park anyway... I like everest, but thats seriously about the only reason to go there IMHO. :goodvibes

I would do Epcot. We've been a couple of times where we've skipped AK all together (and we had park hoppers). The main things that are worth doing at AK are the Kilimanjaro Safari, the Nemo show, It's Tough to be a Bug (if you haven't done it before... once is worth it) and Expedition Everest. I think that's about it. There are lots of trails with animals, but the only exhibit that really sticks out in my mind is the bat exhibit. Epcot is much more unique in my opinion with all of the different countries, test track (not to be missed), soarin', the seas with nemo, etc.

Good Idea... Get a park hopper and do both.

AK is awesome. My kids love the two animal trails, Safari, Rapids and of course Everest! The Nemo show is a must see. Dinosaur is cool but the rest of Dinoland needs to go away!!! Fast!

Maybe they should turn Dinoland it into a Water themed land. Bring back the Nemo Subs from DL and maybe a Tom Sawyer floom ride? (Splash Mountain II) Also, Ariel could get her own ride and the Black Pearl could be worked in as a playground/splash area. Maybe a new 20,000 leagues under the attraction?

There I go, getting off track...AK Rocks. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. The kids also love Camp MM and the parade.

Go Twins!

Of the 2 you listed, I'd probably skip AK. Never in a million years, could I miss Epcot. I love that place. However, personally, I'd probably skip HS over AK.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but you do not need a park hopper if it's a hard ticket event, correct? Meaning you could do one park the morning of your MNSSHP and then go to MK at 4 for the party without getting a park hopper? I hope that's right but I can't really remember.

If that's the case, then here's what I would do: Go to AK on the morning of your party and take a break before your party that night. If you're planning on doing a water park, the chances are you won't need an entire day to do it (especially the last week of October) and the water parks close early anyway, so that night I would plan to go to Epcot, if nothing else just to eat dinner and watch Illuminations. Then you have a day at HS, and I would probably spend that last day going back to MK or Epcot, whichever one your family wants to do. That way you get to see all the parks and leave your options open for that last day. Hope that helps!

I'd skip AK too...

I find we're always done with it after a few hours. So AK is almost always paired with another park for the afternoon. There's really only 3 or 4 attractions we like there (none of us like "It's Tough To Be A Bug"...my sister was screaming crying after that one).

But we're all older children now so things like Camp MM and most of Dinoland isn't really for us.

I'd drop AK. There really isn't that much to do there and that is not sarcasm. If you did get the hopper you could hit the safari and EE the Dinosaur and be done in about an hour.

Now my family would do Epcot and AK and skip DHS. But that's just us. If I had to pick one I would go to Epcot.

Was in Florida on business a couple years ago and had to pick 2 parks and went to MK and Epcot. That is one reason why AK is a can't miss this time.

My sister and I are going to WDW in November 2009 and doing a tour at AK.

we are coming in the week of halloween for 7 days and the mnsshp so MK is covered , were doing 2 days at universal studios and the kids want to hit at least one water park and hollywood studios. we usually stay at the resort and chill for one day so that leaves only one day with EPCOT and ANIMAL KINGDOM left ,which park is more of a must do??? or is a park hopper worth it?? any opinoins are welcome

MGM...er, Hollywood studios....if you are with small kids.
none....if you are with Big Kids

I would skip AK. We will be there 8 days next time and I was thinking about skipping it with a water park. IT's just so hot at AK but DH and DS loved the safari and I thought I would give it another try.

We are skipping AK this trip. We are there for 5 days and want to spend at least 2 at Epcot for F&W. When DD1 was 3 we actually didn't like Epcot that much but now she's8 and is going to be doing some journal writing for school about the countries and food. We like AK but not as much as the other parks. We also were just able to book AKL for our trip in April so we'll make up for it then.

I would skip AK. My kids absolutely LOVED Epcot but none of us enjoyed the heat and the spaciousness of AK. We even cancelled our Boma ADR's just to get the heck out of the entire AK region!!

skip AK... only Everst is appealing and only to coaster junkies... the rest of the park is over crowded and boring... there aren't even any good shows at AK, Nemo is horrible compared to all the other shows in the other parks... I think I would rather watch the France film in Epcot than sit through Nemo again.

If it were up to me, I would definately get the hopper pass and do both in one day. Both parks offer so much, that it is hard to choose just one. We personally love Epcot and would never even think about skipping out on it during a vacation. However, AK, we never really got a chance to explore when we were there because we were with my Dsis and her family and they just rushed us through to KS. The next time we go back we did vow that we will spend a lot more time in AK to ride EE, Kali River Rapids, take in some shows, and whatever else we didn't get to see last time.

So for my suggestion, get the hopper and do AK in the morning...rope drop, then head on over to Epcot and ride Soarin, TT, MS, and whatever suits your fancy in FW. Then head on over to WS and walk around there and watch the entertainment and shop at the countries that most appeal to you. Plus you can have dinner at any of the fine countries before Illuminations starts.

I'm suprised at the amount of people that are Anti-AK in this thread, generally its the other way around.

I think it depends on the age range of your party but i'd personally just do a half day at AK on your "chill" day. You can see a good amount of the park (there's a lot to do there, i'm not sure why everyone in this thread is saying there's only 1-2 things worth doing) by Lunch time if crowds aren't too bad. Just send someone to grab Expedition Everest FPs and meet up at Kilimanjaro Safaris over in Africa.

Must-see attractions at Animal Kingdom:
Expedition Everest
Dinosaur (not too good for younger children)
Festival of the Lion King
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Kali River Rapids
Finding Nemo: The Musical

If you have time try to check out the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia.
