If you had to miss one park which one would it be???

I'm an AK fan too. I would skip MGM. Last trip we were there for a week and spent about three hours one evening there.

I would say Epcot---if you have kids as there really isn't that much there compared to the other parks for kiddies.

We love MGM & MK!!!

Just curious? What does your DH like about AK that would make it his favorite?

I would guess that a majority of the people that frequent WDW would skip AK if they had to skip one of the parks.

Maybe I'll start a poll.

I know this doesn't meet your requirement but I would skip AK.

I love the others too much.

I cant pick!!! Cant miss EPCOT..Test track & the Garden Grill (best character interaction IMHO @ Disney). MGM I would pass but I just love TOT & Fantasmic.
Ummm..so yea, this post didnt really help :p

I didn't think of it but you could visit both AK and MGM in the same day. AK generally closes earlier and MGM closes later.

You could very easily go to AK early (it opens earlier too) and then end the day in MGM. That would give you plenty of time to see and do everything you wanted to.

Sorry I didn't read the other posts in this thread before posting.

Okay, here's my take...your Dh's favorite park is AK (mine too) and he wants to go to IOA and you only have four days. Hmmmm...what about you? Do you like those two parks too? If you do, then great...pick one of the others to skip, but if not, I'd ask DH to pick which one he wants to do more and skip the other one. Seems only fair to me.

this past vacation we were going to skip MGM and go to IOA - never made it to IOA so of course we had to go to MGM to ride Rock n Roller

we attended MNSSHP 10/3 - crowds werent bad - got there about 4pm - dinner at Crystal Palace - right before 6 we were at Philharmagic - stayed till right after the 10pm parade

1) Spent a day (6hrs?) at EpCot
2) day at AK - arrived for 8am PS at Donald's, left after 3pm
3) and spent a day at MK (shopping, lunch at Castle), hopped over to MGM (Rock n Roller, Star Tours, Muppets) and then to EpCot (Test Track & Mission Space)

and then 1.5days at SeaWorld, day at Downtown Disney, day at WL pool

Not including Animal Kingdom...this is DH favorite park.

We never went to MGM on our May trip. An easy one for us to miss. If we have lots of days we'll do it but nothing there is a must see for us.

Magic Kingdom and Epcot are our favorites and we never miss them. We like to go to Animal Kingdom on most trips but not all.

I personally would skip AK. It is very hot there (surprising for the number of trees), there are relatively few attractions (that's why they are building Expedition Everest), and if you go on an uncrowded day when they are opening early, it's easy to see the whole thing by 1:00. Don't get me wrong, I could spend 5 hours just watching the tigers, but I can see tigers other places. The attractions at the other parks are more unique, in my opinion.

Absolutely. The first time I went to AK, I was there until early to mid afternoon, then went to MGM afterward. That was before the days of Fantasmic, though, when you didn't lose the last 2 hours of the park being open to sitting and waiting for the show.

You could very easily go to AK early (it opens earlier too) and then end the day in MGM.

I don't know if it's the season or not, but AK is currently not opening earlier than MGM. This past weekend, both were opening at 9:00 am. It's a shame, because AK is best very early in the morning, when the animals are more active. I was there Saturday and even before noon, the safari features a whole lot of sleeping animals and not much else.

I have no clue why he likes Ak...IMO that would be the one I would skip too...not much to do there, but since this is his suprise trip I was gonna accomidate that park into our trip...although Roserae had a good suggestion...maybe I will make him shoose one or the other..AK or IOA...and if he picks AK then maybe we can skip the rental car too???

I personally would skip Disney Studios AKA MGM. Ever since they closed the Hunchback of Notre Dame show, the park holds little interest for me. The Great Movie Ride is looking very dated as is Muppetvision 3D. I may change my mind if I can get my motion sickness-prone body on TOT or RRC.

Instead of skipping a park I would park hop as others suggested.

AK/Epcot in one day
then MGM/Epcot on another day

Also I would really suggest trying to do US in addition to IOA. The mummy coaster can not be beat. There is nothing else out there like it.

If you have done WDW a few times and haven't been to USO I would suggest doing a full day at IOA and US and doing 1/2 days at each of the WDW parks on your other 2 days/

I would have to say MGM if I really had to skip one park.

My DD 5 Loves Epcot.

I haven't read all the replies, so maybe this has been covered, but why skip any park? If I only had three days for the WDW parks and it was only my DH and myself, I would skip MK. As a matter of fact, my DH and I were at WDW a couple weeks ago. We had 3 whole days and 2 half days and were planning on skipping MK. We ended up going to the MNSSHP, which was our only MK time.

If you want, though, you could always go to MK when it first opens in the morning (early entry if you are staying onsite) and then go to Epcot after doing the highlights at MK.

We love MGM so I wouldn't short my time there, but if you don't like lots of rides on ToT or RnR like we do, then you might want to stay a 1/2 day there, especially if you don't want to do all the shows.

T&B

I would skip AK but, like you said, .....not an option. After that it would be MGM. That would be kind of hard though because we love TOT and RRC. But since that's about it for that park, we'd skip it if we had to.

We could never skip MK. My DH and I have made two "Mommy and Daddy only" trips, and we would never skip it. It's the park that Walt had a hand in..........it's so "Disney"! :D

And my family loves EPCOT. Even my kids. But most of all, we love to have dinner there.

I would say, park hop to see all of the attractions you want to see and maybe end up at EPCOT for dinner. Then you could catch Illuminations after dinner.

I also love that EPCOT stays open longer than the other parks, at least when we are there, because it is off season.

Have fun planning. I did that for DH for Christmas 2002. It was almost as fun planning it as it was being there.........almost. ;)

As others have said I, too, would skip AK - and often do. Next would be the Studios. Not sure we've ever made a WDW trip (and we make between 8 and 12 a year) where we have not gone to both MK & Epcot. Except prior to 1982, of course. :)

I've never been thrilled with Epcot, I've never been to AK but it sounds pretty cool, I want to try to combine Epcot and AK since AK closes early. I think MGM will take a whole day, and we want plenty of MK time. I could do MK only and be VERY happy! I'm an MK girl! - that's why I loved Disneyland so much!

I'm concerned so many of you would skip AK, are we going to be disappointed?
