Which one would you choose? Ohana or Boma and why?

DH and I need to choose between these two and we can not decide. I am leaning towards Ohana but I am not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated!!

We've tried both, and although we enjoyed Ohana we far preferred Boma, and are planning to return there on our next trip.

A tricky one to answer as both have their merits. If I had all my kids with me and I wanted a fun atmosphere with a real feast, then Ohana. If I am in a nibbling, try everything with nicer service, then I would go for Boma (although kids are fine too)

If really pushed I would go for Ohana, because I like to have a good time at dinner and the food is good. Boma has the edge for fine food though,

We ate at Ohana's last Feb 2005, I had my DD24 and DS14 with me

DD & DS didn't care for the "little kid" entertainment or being seated next to the path where the kids chase their coconuts around

We had several coconuts go under our table and then there was a big scramble for the kids to get them out, it really disturbed our dining :duck:

But we did like the "Wishes" view with the lighting dimmed and music piped in for atmosphere :thumbsup2

This year, we went to Boma's and hands down, we all LOVED it :cloud9:

So, I think it depends on who you are dining with, the location in the restaurant and what age your companion diners are ;)

I like them both, but prefer Boma. Huge selection for everyone. Great deserts.... :thumbsup2

I would choose Ohana. Both are good, but we have never been disappointed at Ohana. I prefer to be served rather than having to get up several times during the meal to run to the buffet line. I really prefer the type of food Ohana serves over Bomas, but I'm more of a meat and potatoes kind of person. Desserts at both are outstanding.

O'hana. I think Boma, like most buffets, is over rated. Also, I prefer to be waited on.

We prefer Boma and go every trip!!! The food is delicious, great variety, wonderful desserts and you can wonder arounf AKL after you waddle out.... I don't really like buffets, but Boma is so good I can't resist... :)

DS (20), DD (17 at the time) and I tried both on a trip last June. Ohana (5:30 ressie) was fun and everyone really enjoyed it but we all felt a bit rushed. The courses followed each other very quickly. We ate at Boma late one evening and were given all the time we needed. I like to take my time over a meal and really appreciated not feeling rushed. As far as the food was concerned DS (huge carnivore, picky about everything else) preferred Ohana. DD and I like veggies and salads and preferred the variety at Boma. Boma has lots of different salads, soups and dips as well as the heavier stuff. Ohana was still serving the pineapple when we were there and DD, the dessert expert, much preferred the selection at Boma.

I've been to both several times, and would choose Boma. While 'Ohana can offer a great view of MK and full table service, the AKL edges out the Poly for atmosphere, and the food is light-years better at Boma. 'Ohana used to be my family's favorite WDW restaurant, but over the past year or two, both DD 11 and DS 8 have indicated that they are getting too old for the coconut races and enjoy Boma more.

I've been to both a few times and would pick Boma. The food there is great. 'Ohana seems to have gone down hill with the recent menu change.

Boma is a good choice for variety and unique food. Ohana is better for atmosphere and fun.

Boma... hands down!

We have eaten at 'Ohana 3 times and have found the food to be dry, tasteless and the service not very good. We have eaten at Boma 4 times and have found just the opposite. The wide variety of food draws us to Boma, also. We perfer having the salads, veggies, hummas, and desserts at Boma to all the meat at 'Ohana.

Boma, hands down. I have been unhappy with the recent reviews of O'Hana and Boma is in AKL, my kids adore the resort! They also had a wide variety of food and no one from my, very diverse, family complained and everyone left full. That is not always the case with restaurants. My eldest is the world's pickiest eater (very frustrating for his "Foodie" Mom, me).
