If you had to choose one for your Christmas tree....

We now have two Christmas trees--my mom decided she wanted two "skinny" ones and gave me her old one. DH rolls his eyes, but I have enough ornaments to do it!
One tree will be mostly Disney--I am toying with the idea of calling WDW merchandising and getting either the Walt Disney World Railroad or the monorail set. No, I cannot afford all the monorail accessories right now, just the basic set--track and train.
If you could have one of these, which would you choose?

Robin, whichever one you get, you'll love it. But if I had a choice, I'd choose the railroad. It's more traditional.

Hmmmm. Wonder if either one will ever be discontinued any time soon? If so I would get the one that would be discontinued the quickest. I think I would get the train set this year and then the monorail and continue to add to it. The train could go around the bottom of the tree and the monorail somewhere close by. Or you get get one and then hint real strong to someone to get you the other for a Christmas present!

Does anybody have a picture of the monorail, and can they tell me where I can get it. I went to e-bay and saw all of these cool accesories. Different rides, hotels etc, that are activated by the monorail going by. Are these to the monorail you are talking about. This would be soooo cooooolll.

Wow, how much are those new accessories retail? I just checked EBay and the Poly and GF playsets are going for just as much as the monorail itself!
They released the new stuff the day after we left so Im just wondering how much they really are.
I'm leaning toward monorail too, but by the looks of EBay I'll be better off ordering it from WDW!

Another vote for the monorail. Trains are nice, but the monorail is unique to Disney.

I have so many ornaments collected that I have done an all-Disney tree too. Actually, mine is even more limited than that....it is all-Disney, all-porcelain ornaments from the movies and the theme parks. I am too lazy to do more than one tree so I do different themes each year, depending upon my mood at the time. Sometimes it happens to be a Disney year!

I won't be much help. I have both under my tree. I run the monorail on the inside and the train outside the monorail loop (in opposite directions). The train is nice b/c it's a replica of the WDW train & comes with a few characters you can place on it.

I believe both are available at the Disney Store, but the packaging is different than if you buy it at WDW. You can call WDW Merchandise Services (407-363-6200) to order it, but you'll have to pay shipping (based on $$$ amt ordered). They also have additional packs of track (straight and curved) for the train and monorail. From what I've seen, there are different color monorails out there. If you order from WDW, you'll just have to take what they ship.
