If you had to choose between WL or Swan/Dolphin??

Where would you stay? We have stayed at WL once before (Dec.2001) and LOVED it! We liked the bunks, Cubs Den, WCC and closeness to MK. We loved everything about WL. However, I quailify for the teacher discount at Swan/Dolphin and am considering it for our upcoming May trip. (It would save some $$) I think it could make for a very different trip (ex. more time at Epcot and MGM and with the boardwalk so close, it could be fun at night.) They both look like lovely hotels. It's a surprise trip for the kids and I want them to like where we stay. DS will be 9 and DD 7. It will probably be our last trip to WDW for awhile.

So...Would it be hard to go from such a "cool" themed hotel like WL to the Swan or Dolphin??

Last year we split our stay between the WL and the Dolphin and we liked them both. They're very different hotels, but both have their own advantages. Like you said, the Dolphin is great if you plan on spending a lot of time at Epcot, MGM, and the Boardwalk and WL has very easy access to the MK via the boat. The bus service is fine at either but you do normally share with other resorts.

Our girls are 5 and 8 and if they had to choose it would definitely be WL. We just returned from a week there and it was pure heaven. IMO there is just more of a "Disney" feel there. I can't really explain it better than that. But, on the other hand, the teacher rate at the Swan/Dolphin is a great deal and we certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay there again either. I think you'll be happy with whatever you choose. Good Luck!:D

So weird that you would ask this question - we just returned from the Dolphin - which I LOVED and can not say enough good things about - but just for a change are considering the WL in February.

Having never stayed at the WL I can not give you a well rounded answer, but I can say that the Dolphin still had much more of a Disney feel than staying say at a DTD hotel - which I have also done.

Also, the staff is as good as it gets, beautiful rooms, kids loved Camp Dolphin, great transportation options, AND it is like 2 vacations in one - Disney and a break from Disney, you can sort of be there but not be there sometimes if you know what I mean.
