My family is suppose to go in July 2005 but my sister is going to have to have a Bone Marrow Transplant starting in January. Her doctor says she will be done by June and that she can go but we really don't want her to be tired and not feel well.

So we are trying to decide if we should go in Oct (would go to the Halloween party) around Columbus day or go in the second week of December (would go to MVMCP). Which do you prefer?

Thanks

I like both those times of year to visit. But I would go with Dec just to see the holiday decorations. Just love that time of year.

I have gone in October and it can be very, very hot and humid. Also, heard this year that around Columbus Day it was packed. Hurricane rescheduling might have affected that, though. Will let you know about December. Finally decided to try the first week of December. You get the holiday decorations and lower crowds. I have been reading voraciously (big word, I know) about the December weather and, from what I'm reading, anything can happen. Warm, cold, wet, beautiful, who knows, but not very hot and humid. :teeth:

I just got back and loved the end of October, but I agree that Columbus Day will be ALOT BUSIER than the second week in December.

I've been to both and I'd have to vote for December. MNSSHP was lots of fun but there's nothing like seeing all the Christmas decorations. It definitely felt a lot more festive in December :) As other people mention, it will also be less crowded in December. I remember most rides were a walk-on or had waits of 15 minutes max. ... compared to October where some of the rides were 25 minutes minimum.

:earseek: I have been in both oct for the h'wen and in dec for the mvmcp and the dec visit won hands down we were the the 1st week of dec and the crowds were at a minium then we are going this year dec 1-7 staying ath the shades of green lodge

I haven't been in October yet so I can't compare the two, but I loved it in December::yes:: . Another thing you may want to consider is that October is regular season and December is value:teeth:

How funny to see this thread! I just came over to aske the very same thing....I am so torn...been there for the last 2 years the first week in December and loved it, but DH said he would prefer weather to swim...both times in early Dec too chilly to rally spend any pool time.

Another vote for second week of December... crowds are light and Xmas decorations are up.

I guess you could swim better in October, but they probably have an indoor pool near where you live.

We've also been to WDW at both times and I'd recommend December. MVMCP is better than MNSSHP, plus you have all the holiday decorations, and things like the Candlelight Processional and Osborne Lights. Early December is a great time for a trip. October would give you better swimming weather, but other than that we like December.

Another vote for December. We went in October last year and it was still very warm. I prefer going to the parks when it's cooler out, so we're going in December this year. I'd rather be in jeans and a sweatshirt than sweating in shorts.

I'd say December! I would love to go furing the holidays! i think it is even more special than October. :)

I'm also torn between the two months but I'm leaning towards December. Does anyone have an educated guess on when MVMCP will end in 2005? Is it worth arranging your scheduled days to be sure you are there during this event? Any advice is welcomed! TIA!

:bounce: not sure when it ends in jan but if you chech waltdisneyworld.com site map and special occassions it will tell you buy your tics on line and make ressies at the liberty tree rest. it is a great experience

You know, a couple of years ago I would have said October without a second thought. It used to be one of the least crowded times of the year, and generally the weather starts to cool down a bit. You can't bank on the weather - it could be hot in October, it could be cool - but the crowds the last two years have really been shocking! I have never been to the MNSSHP, but we were at the MK on a party night and as we were leaving I was wishing we were staying because it looked SO fun!

In December, you're almost guaranteed cooler weather, the crowds are manageable (as long as you avoid the holidays) and the decorations are AWESOME.

So I guess I would also vote for December!

Another vote for December!!!

We've been to Disney in early Dec in 2000, 2001, and 2002. In 2003, we went for MNSSHP! This year, we'll be back for MVMCP!!!

We love Disney at Christmas time!! We've always gone the first week in Dec - and its been GREAT!!! Most rides are a walk on! The weather is also great!!! The first year, it was really chilly (sweatshirt weather - although there were some kids swimming in the pool!! Brrrrr...too cold for me to swim!) In 2001, it was nice during the day, but a little cool at night! Then, in 2002, it was a mixture - a couple days really nice, a rainy night, and then cold!!! We always go to MVMCP and the Candlelight Processional!!

We went the week of Columbus Day last year! The crowds were not that bad at all!! It was rather warm our first couple of days, but then it turned rather cool!!!! We went to MNSSHP and had a great time!!!

We're hoping for some great weather for our upcoming trip in December!!! Can't wait!!!

goes to December. I love the decorations and activities for the holidays. I can be happy just resort hopping to see the different decorations. If you don't go that week of weeks it's wonderful. I find it more meaningful if you participate in MVMCP, CP, etc. I think the whole experience is truly special.

I like the holiday spirit at the other parks, too. Each year lately Sea World and Universal have been adding to the holiday cheer. Busch Gardens is fine if you want a side trip. Cypress Gardens has reopened; so, I'm sure they will display their light show similar to Osbourne without the Disney theme.

It puts me in such high spirits for the holidays. I probably don't come back to reality until mid-January.

The one good feature of October is that enjoying the pools are better because it's warmer.

Is there a December week that's better than the other? I'm wondering about the 2nd or 3rd week of December 2005. I'm afraid the 3rd week will be too crowded with Christmas travelers but then again, I'm torn about taking my DD7 out of school the week before they go on break. Any suggestions on which week will be the most "relaxing" or is it a toss up?
