Okay folks... this was part of a cast memo... but I thought I'd pass it along, since it relates to you folks as well...

For Your Information, and Most of All For Your/Our Safety

I want everyone to know that we have asked Orange County to step up their use of radar on our roadways to ticket speeders.
[...]
This high-speed driving is going to get costly for those of you who will not slow down.
[...]
So everyone be warned in advance, and don't blame me if you get a $500 ticket and have to go to driving school.

As someone who drives these roads every day... I can tell you that speeding has gotten worse. MUCH worse. In addition, folks are running red lights, stop signs, cutting people off, and doing all sorts of other crazy things.

PLEASE FOLKS... Drive safely. OBEY THE SPEED LIMITS... Speed does kill.

Oh, and remember... Disney isn't the only one who likes to take your money. Orange County Sherrif's like tourist money as well.

(Yes, I know this is a duplicate post from the Transportation board, but it needs to be here as well.)

Thanks for the heads up. We will be driving down, and will be careful.

It's about time. But the people driving like maniacs and running stop signs are generally CM's. The tourists are the idiots who just stop in the middle of the road to read the map, or cut off three lanes of traffic to make a turn. :(

We are just back from driving and I can honestly say people drive 20 over without blinking an eye! I try very hard not to speed because with out-of-state plates I feel like I have a bullseye painted on my rump but I was getting run over.

LOL... so true... CMs dont stop when they're supposed to... guests stop when they're not supposed to. Can we swap something around here?

My personal fav is the guest who is in the far left lane, sees a sign to his park de jour exiting left and cuts wildly across 3 lanes of traffic without really looking!

TURN AROUND or just keep going, Disney will circle you back eventually!

Last year we were riding the monorail to EPCOT. We look out on the highway entering MK, just before you reach the parking ticket booths.

In the center lane a large passenger van just dead stops in traffic and about 6-7 people exit it, jumping up and down, obviously ecstatic to be there. Traffic is screeching all around trying to avoid hitting them, their stopped car, etc.

Were they being attacked by killer bees--heck no, they wanted their photograph with the ticket booth in the background! UNREAL! They could have been killed--it was in the morning and the summer droves were arriving! There's no accounting for some people's children . . . ;)

Actually, there is no accounting for the parent who allowed them to do it!;)

Thanks for the warning. Actually, I like coming in on the Osceola Parkway entry. Often there is a state trooper right behind the Disney sign with his radar. They must make a lot of money for Osceola County there. My ex and I broke down in that area and were there for about an hour one day...the statie must have pulled over about 15 people in that hour. He actually called in another car to assist. Just wish that money could go to pay off the bond on the parkway to lower the toll.

LOL Tess talk about crazy. I got a story too.

We visited last year. We were going to AKL when some guy not lookin were he was going drove right into the grass island. He must of been amazed at the sight of AKL or something.

I love the speed traps they set... there's one on World Drive, where they can hide behind some bushes... I'll see two patrol cars there, and they just alterternate pulling people over...

Buena Vista Drive is another hotspot that they've been monitoring... I saw a few folks pulled over today.

I tell you though... The Worlds *BEST* radar detector --- DONT SPEED. :)
