If You Dream A Thing More Than Once: New! Sleeping Beauty on the Big Screen page 3!!

Wow, impressive panel & I am sure I would have been "geeking out" too!
Love your picture with Mary Costa. Another dream came true for you.
I am so glad you were able to experience this as it meant so very much to you.
Ready to go to Disneyland next...............

This was better than a world premiere because it was a setting conducive to truly seeing the movie among fans of the film. The audience was going crazy because we love and admire the work of these people. We were very excited to see them, but there's also an element of genuine admiration for what they've accomplished and even contributed in a small way to our lives.

And Melanie, just get ready since you're on the verge of having a great deal of geek out moments. :cool1:

Omg, I would have yelled "Tony Baxter I LOVE YOU!!!!!!" :lovestruc

What an awesome night for you!! I am completely jealous! :cloud9:

LOL. I think the kid sitting next to me could have died and considered his life complete when they introduced Tony Baxter. I wonder if Tony was mobbed for autographs afterwards or if he was able to leave quietly.

Oh wow! What an amazing experience for you. That's something that would be right up my alley. Looks like you had a really great time! I still don't have my copy of Sleeping Beauty on Disney Blu-Ray yet. :sad2: I saw that it's on sale every where this week for $20, so I'm definitely going to go and buy it this week!

Lol! That is too funny about that kid! That would have been me! Screaming like an 8 year old for Hannah Montana!

I wonder if he was mobbed? I've seen pictures of him at DLR and there weren't any crazy fans (like me!) following him. I'm sure only people who are real fans of the parks see him as a big deal. If I was there and didn't go or know anything about DLR I would have just been "that's cool. He made Thunder Mountain". You know?

If John Lasseter was there too. I would have cried.

While it didn't happen when I saw WALL-E at Pixar, if I ever meet John Lasseter, I am going to shake his hand, look him right in the eye and thank him for helping save Disney animation from what it had become.

I think Tony Baxter can blend easily into the parks because most people don't recognize him and those of us that do are usually sensible enough to respect him and not make a scene. It doesn't mean that we wouldn't talk to him if the opportunity arose, just that we wouldn't recreate the midnight screenings of Twilight.:rotfl:

I wasn't referring to those dignified people at the midnight screenings. I was referring to those people, likely resembling teenage girls:rotfl2: , who according to some reports squealed throughout the entire film every time they saw the lead actor.

And lest you think I'm unfairly targeting people who go nuts at movies, you didn't see me go absolutely bonkers when Yoda busted out his lightsaber skills in Attack of the Clones. :happytv:

Yeah, if I saw Tony Baxter in the parks, I probably wouldn’t go up to him. If he was behind me in line (I heard he actually waits in line! Oooohh!!) or something I would maybe say something to him. But it would be neat to see him “working” and enjoying what he created.

I’m really a big Pixar fan and would love to see/meet John Lasseter. I would like to see him at Disneyland, on the Jungle Cruise. As a guest, not as a skipper, now that would be awesome.

Wendy, don’t lie. You know you were screaming every time Edward was in a scene during the movie!! SK, you have to admit Edward is pretty dreamy!! :lovestruc

Ok, I don't know how all those reporters got into my showing but it was one, quick, loud "WOO" and that was it! :lmao: Seriously though, I have a much bigger crush on Steven Colbert. LOL But I doubt I'll "woo" even once during his Steven Colbert Christmas Special (the greatest gift of all). :happytv:

Yea, men invented Geek fandom in the mid nineteensixties, didn't they?? ;)

When my mother was gushing about Qui-Gon Jinn's eyes in The Phantom Menace, I, like young Anakin Skywalker, was paying a lot more attention to Padme:lovestruc .

The only character I've seen recently that I would classify as dreamy would be a certain princess famed for sleeping(not that she needed any beauty sleep).

And travelmel, I think men are the reason why you hear the term fanboy a whole lot more than fangirl. We male geeks can get rather obsessive, though I try to moderate my geekiness and approach things rationally.

You always put things so well.
I know I am 12 days away from the "geeking out" moments of a lifetime. I am sure I will also experience my fair share of water works. Note to self...pack travel size Kleenex.

Probably not a bad idea. There will be moments on your trip that you wish you could freeze time for. You will see things that you've only seen in your wildest dreams. And you may ask your DH more than a few times to pinch you just to make sure that it's not a dream.

I can't fully explain why or how, but the Walt Disney Studios has this mytiscal pull on me. I have friends who have eaten at Club 33. I never have, and I honestly don't care if I ever do. I've already seen my holy grail of Disney.

I watched Sleeping Beauty on Blu-Ray last night, it was absolutely breathtaking. I can only imagine what it would have been like on a movie theater screen. :cloud9:

When I watched Sleeping Beauty again for the first time after seeing it on the big screen, I couldn't help but feel that something was missing. I've lamented this before, but we're really missing out on something when we can't see these films the way they were intended, especially a film like Sleeping Beauty. It was shot in Technirama 70, a widescreen format that utilized every square inch of the screen. Sleeping Beauty may be the most beautiful film ever created by the studio and I don't think it's random that Disney chose to make this the first classic released in hi def.

I was SO estatic when I heard Sleeping Beauty was coming out on Blu-Ray. The detail is so amazing in every scene, it was the first time I was really able to see each cell. There was so much depth in each scene, it was stunning.
I discovered that I could say each characters lines before they said them, perhaps I've seen the movie one to many times...nah!
Now I want to see it in 3-D! Dare to dream.... :3dglasses

That would be wonderful in 3-D! I read that Disney is making Beauty and the Beast in 3-D in 2010. I'm SO excited! Hopefully after that they can come out with each princess movie in 3-D.

I'm not so sure that they'll even touch Snow White in 3-D. Because it was the first feature length animated film and because they had to make it up as they went along, it ended up with some imperfections that could be magnified in 3-D.

As for the others, it's wait and see, though I'm not sure if they'll even touch any of the Walt era classics for a 3-D conversion.

I saw Beauty & the Beast on the IMAX screen in 2002 or 2003. That was pretty incredible.
