which park would you go to?

We are arriving at MCO at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 31 and definitley want to hit a park ASAP.

I think I want to save MK for a day when we can get there at opening. I thought of EPCOT, which makes my kids (16 and 13) go like this:rolleyes: , but I thought it might be a good way to ease into the vacation since this park seems so laid back, compared to MK. The kids would pick MGM if they could not go to MK and dh has no real preference.

Does EPCOT seem like good choice or would you just go to MK and fight the afternoon/Memorial Day/Monday crowds? Or would MGM better? I love early mornings at AK so I haven't even considered it but, hey, I'm open to suggestions! :teeth:

I would go with EPCOT.... particularly the World Showcase. That is an area where you can just walk around a take it all in.
DH & I do this alot for a quick "Disney Fix".
We live close and sometimes we just drive up for an afternoon on a Saturday. We usually arrive right around 12-1:00 and spend the rest of the day in WS, ending it all with Illuminations.

No way would I attempt MK on that day, especially after noon.

Go with Epcot. There really is a lot to do there.

Definately EPCOT...it is a great park...and if your kids just take a few mins to look at the map there are lots of great things for them to do...

My kids love epcot and my dd 12, it is her favorite park...

Test track, Mission Space for 2 biggies...

i agree with the rest that Epcot would be a good place to start. Future world will be clearing out by then as most guests who got there for park opening will more than likely have moved onto World Showcase. they could take some unrushed time in the attractions there - maybe even get lucky enough to get a fastpass or not so long wait time for Test Track.

If you wanted to stay at Epcot until it closes (not sure if you want to do this as it is your arrive day and you may need some rest) catching Illuminations would be a great way to get your family stoked for their WDW vacation. Great Show, just so moving and inspirational.
Figure out where in WS you want to catch dinner, check in with Guest Relations at the front of Epcot when you arrive and ask them to make a PS for you. this may cut down on your dinner wait time.

Have a great trip.

If you're determined to hit a park that day, Epcot is my recommendation. Personally, I wouldn't burn a day off a Hopper Pass by going anywhere that late. If you're staying at a WDW resort there are loads of free Disney things to do, Boardwalk, DTD, scouting other resorts, hitting your own resort pool or maybe PI or a waterpark with a Plus.

I agree about not wasting a park hopper day for half a day. Go to downtown Disney, enjoy the pool at your resort, go down to the Boardwalk, Play mini golf. You get the idea, lots to do so little time. Or if you plan on going to a waterpark, do it with that day.

Enjoy! Whatever you do you will have a great time!

Hi HunnyPots,

If you plan to stay until closing, Epcot's clearly the best choice. The park is big and the attractions are engineered for large capacities.

That'll give you around eight hours in the park. If the Studios is open until 9 p.m. or later, that's also a choice, but crowds will be more of a factor there, as it's a smaller park.

If you don't plan on staying until 9pm at any park, I think Bill from PA is correct in saying it's probably not worth using one day on your passes.

Hope this helps. Have a great time!

Sincerely,

Len

I agree with Bill - I wouldn't use a park hopper day if I couldn't get there until noon. We'll probably be arriving around that time in June, and we won't be going to a park until the next day. We plan to go to Downtown Disney and swim at the resort pool the first day.

If you have annual passes or ultimate park hoppers, then I would definitely vote for Epcot. I wouldn't even consider arriving at the others at noon.

I don't think it makes any difference if you enter MK after noon compared with entering MK in the morning and remaining there after noon. You will experience the same level of park crowding after noon.

But you can save the time otherwise consumed in the park hopping process if you choose for your afternoon entrance day the park that is open the longest that evening. Assuming you don't leave early for dinner off site.

Vote for Ralph Nader, you'll get George Bush.

Yes, we will plan on staying until park closing at 9:00, so we will have 9 hours in the park; hardly a "half day"!
Looks like EPCOT is the park of choice. Thanks again!

On May 31st at the America Gardens at Epcot they will be having Flower Power show and the Buckinghams will be playing. If you are too young to remember them you still might have heard some of their songs:
"Kind of a Drag"
"Don't You Care"
"Mercy, Mercy, Mercy"
"Hey Baby, They're Playing Our Song"
"Susan"

Your teens might like it.
on May 17th DD's BF will be flying in to met us. He does not get in untill 1:25 but the Turtles will be playing for the last time that night and we are heading right from the airport to Epcot.
